You can pull characters ranging from one to three stars inUmamusume: Pretty Derby, and King Halo belongs to the former rarity. While it might make it seem like she won’t be a good character, the game has a special upgrade system where you can increase a character’s star once you get enough copies.
This means that you may take a one-star character like King Halo all the way up to five stars in due time. This makes every character in the game worth building, but this one might give you a tough time due to the way their career is set.

While doing a career run with King Halo,you’ll mainly build her as a Late Surger in varying distances. As you can see from above,she has an A rating on Sprintwhile having a B on Mile and Medium. However, most of the races at the start of the career are Mile and Medium distance, making it quite a predicament.
Even her final race requires you to achieve the first position in a Medium race. This would generally make the character not worth building, but Halo is a Late Surger,which means that her Stamina requirements won’t be as higheven for Medium tracks. However, you do have to get an A rating on these distances with her Legacies.
Certain legacies will instantly increase herMile and Medium rating to Awhen you put them on her.
King Halo’s unique skill is called Prideful King,which greatly increases her Power in the last 200 meters of a race. While this is a phenomenal skill for Later Surgers, it doesn’t require you to run in a specific distance type, making her target distance for the end of the race your choice. However, she’ll build better as a Mile racer still.
This is mainly because a majority of her races in the career are Mile, and if you build her for this distance,you may easily achieve the first position in them, increasing your overall Skill Points.

You might think thatKing Halo’s stat recommendationswill change with the target distance since she can be built for three of them, but that’s usually not the case. Of course,if you’re planning to use her in Medium distance Team Trials, you can look for a bit more Stamina to be sure, but it’s not a necessity.
As a Late Surger, King Halo stays at the back and conserves her Stamina throughout the race. This decreases her overall Stamina requirement,and a few Stamina-based skills can suffice for the disparity. While looking at King Halo, you’ll notice that Power is her highest base stat, with Wit and Speed following close behind.
Her Stamina is the lowest base stat,which stays only at 67even when you get her to three stars.
She alsohas a Growth Rate in both Power and Guts,which makes it easier to train these statsand prepare her for the late-race overtaking. By the end of her career, you’d ideally want her Speed to go past 1,000, with a requirement of at least reaching 900. However, if you’re building her for Legacy, it’s recommended to get over 1,100 since it increases the chances of getting a Speed spark.
King Halo Legacy Recommendations
Talking about Legacy, King Halo’s Legacies are fairly easy to buildsince she has a circular affinity with a ton of starting characters. In the early game, it’s highly recommended to borrow another player’s Legacy even if you have to give them some Monies since it’ll set a strong foundation for your future characters.
While choosing the Legacy for her,the first priority will be Speed, much like every other character. After that, you may go for some Power, Guts, and Stamina if possible.
King Halo Best Skills
During your career run in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, you’ll unlock and get hints forvarious skills based on your Support Cards, Legacies, and the character itself. While this skill generation is completely random, you can increase your chances of getting the right skills once you know the best ones for King Halo.
Generally, she wants any Late Surger skill andsome distance-related ones based on your target type. However, she can also use some debuff abilities to guarantee her success:

This Stamina-based ability regenerates King Halo’s stamina when she’sblocked by another racer in the early race, which is a common occurrence for Late Surgers.

This ability gives Halo some extra Power when she’s close to a lot of runners. She cangather this during the middle of the raceand use it to her benefit at the end.
In Body and Mind
This is arguably one of the best abilities for King Halo as it increases herPower in the final spurt, which is exactly when she needs it.
While it might be enticing to get skills on King Halo as soon as possible, it’s recommended to wait until her first inspiration.
This will unlock a lot more skills and also give you time to get some hints. Thelast thing you want is to buy skills at high valueunless you have to.
King Halo Best Support Cards
Apart from Legacy, you also have to choose up to five of your own Support Cards before starting a run with King Halo. If you follow some people,this number goes up by one as you can also borrow a card, making your total six. For Halo, the best setup for Support Cards is three Speed, one Power, and two Guts. You can also use a Wit card instead of Guts if you have something good.

This is a free card if you played through the Brand New Friends event, and apart from some Late Surger skills, it can alsogive you decent Stamina abilitiesto pass the Medium races in Halo’s career.
