Capcomis one of the most well-respected video game developers ever. The company has been around for a long time and hasdeveloped many successful games. Yet, the most impressive thing about the studio isn’t how many fantastic individual titles it has made - it’s how many excellent series those games have spawned.

Most developers are responsible for one or two successful series, while Capcom has a bunch of them in all different genres. Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Street Fighter are all very different series, but Capcom had a hand in them all. However, which of them contains the most games? Here is the answer to that question.

Re-releases and ports haven’t counted toward the total number of games in each series, but remakes have. Additionally, games that Capcom didn’t directly develop but are still featured in one of its series are also included.

8Devil May Cry

10 Entries

Devil May Cry is one of Capcom’s most famous series, and it debuted in 2001. So, it has been around a long time, but there aren’t as many entries in this series as some would expect. There are six main instalments and a handful of mobile games.

Outside of mobile titles, the series doesn’t do spin-offs. That said, Capcom loves to make definitive editions and re-releases for the DMC games. This keeps the series relevant while you wait for new entries to be released.

7Breath Of Fire

The first Breath of Fire game was released in 1993. So, there has been a lot of time for the series to build up its collection of games. Yet, while there were nine instalments in the series during the 1990s and 2000s, not much happened after that. In fact, after 2008, there was only one more Breath of Fire game, which was released in 2016.

So, there have been ten entries into the RPG series in total. Six of them are main games, while there have also been four mobile titles.

6Ace Attorney

11 Entries

Ace Attorney is a series of really good visual novels that revolve around you working as an attorney. Capcom loves re-packaging and re-releasing these games, particularly as collections. As a result, there aren’t as many original Ace Attorney games as it sometimes appears.

There have still been 11 of them, starting with the first release in 2001. Following this, a steady stream of games was released throughout the 2000s and 2010s. New entries haven’t been as prevalent recently, though. So, the series has been stuck at 11 for some time.

5Sengoku Basara

12 Entries

Sengoku Basara isn’t a series that everyone will recognise, particularly compared to other Capcom IPs. This is because it’s a series that’s primarily popular in Japan. In fact, it’s an entire media franchise in the country that includes anime, a live-action show, novels, and more.

So, it’s a big deal, which is why the series has had 12 games. There have been four numbered entries, a few mobile games, and several spin-offs. Some of those spin-offs move away from the hack-and-slash style that the series is known for, as the series dabbles in multiple genres.

4Street Fighter

17 Entries

Street Fighter is one of Capcom’s longest-running series, as the first game was released in 1987. So, it’s no surprise that there have been a lot of entries. That said, for a series that has been around for over 30 years, you may have expected more than 17 games by this point.

Yet, this is partly because Capcom doesn’t just release a Street Fighter game and then move on from it. The company releases several more versions of those titles, which are effectively re-releases or remasters, so they don’t count toward the total. What has been counted are the six numbered games and the various other spin-offs, as well as any major crossovers Street Fighter has been a part of (excluding Marvel vs. Capcom).

3Monster Hunter

22 Entries

Monster Hunter isa series that has a very literal title, as you hunt monsters in these games. Despite having a very specific premise that shouldn’t allow for much variety, the series has been going on for many years and has had 22 entries.

This number does not include all the enhanced Ultimate versions of the games, which Capcom frequently releases. What has been counted are the six main entries, the five portable games, and all the other spin-offs. All of this shows that the concept of hunting monsters has a lasting appeal.

2Resident Evil

30 Entries

Resident Evil often feels like Capcom’s favorite series, as barely a year goes by without a new Resident Evil release. Some are new instalments, while others are full remakes of previous classics. Altogether, there have been 30 games in the iconic series. That is obviously a lot, but the series has been around since 1996. Plus, only eight of those 30 are main instalments.

Along with them are a bunch of spin-offs, such as the Revelations games. Remakes also make up a bunch of the series' catalogue since Capcom has remade several of the classic RE games. These remakes have generally been amongthe best in gaming.

1Mega Man

100+ Entries

It’s challenging to determine the exact number of Mega Man games that have been released. This is because there are a ridiculous number of them. There are, of course, the main series games, but then there are sub-series, such as the likes of Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero. Some of those sub-series have spin-offs, too, as do the main games.

Additionally, there is a vast collection of mobile titles, most of which were only released in Japan. So, altogether, there are over 100 Mega Man games in total, making it easily the Capcom series with the most entries.
