Dead by Daylight’sbig crossover withThe Walking Deadstarted last month, bringing iconic characters like Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon (he’ll always be Sam Bridges in my heart), and Michonne into the game, but all of these have been overshadowed thanks to one of the game’s latest updates, and something that was added to the game completely by accident.
There isn’t much that could take the wind out of a Walking Dead crossover, but a metal beam is currently the talk of the Dead by Daylight community. Yes, a quite literal metal beam that accidentally found its way onto the offering screen before matches start, which has now been called Jim by the community, is garnering more love and attention than any official killer or survivor in the entire game.
On the Dead by Daylight subreddit, you’ll see almost no end to the countless posts all worshiping Jim, some of them frighteningly well produced. You have your pretty standard memes, such as the post by Reddit user Traditional_Top_194 above, calling for Jim to stay where he is, and for Behaviour to keep the bug around and not get rid of it.
A lot of fan art of Jim has also been made over the past couple of days, which you’d have thought wouldn’t be possible since he’s literally a metal beam. Artists have once again proven us wrong though, as you have a lot of posts being made showing off fan art, including everything froma doodle on a sticky pad, toa painting-esque picture of Jim in all of his steel girderyness.
A Reddit user called KumoKairohas even managed to make an action figure of Jim, which is such an absurd commitment to the bit that you have to respect them. In fact, this particular post managed to catch the attention of Behaviour Interactive itself, which says that all this Jim love is “just getting started”.
Jim is such an important figure in the Dead by Daylight community now that it’s almost expected for Behaviour to acknowledge it in game in some way, and the idea for Jim to be turned into a badge or charm is a pretty good one. It sounds as though Behaviour is planning to do something to immortalize him, so here’s hoping Jim gets the legend treatment that he deserves.
