If you’ve grown tired of all the crossovers, collaborations andother general sillinessin shooters likeFortniteandCall of Duty, then it sounds like the recently revealedBattlefield 6will be the game for you.
In a new interview, design director Shashank Uchil told DBLTAPthat the game, which is set for release on October 10, will stick with a grounded approach, one that should be familiar to fans.
“It has to be grounded,” Uchil said. “That is what BF3 and BF4 was — it was all soldiers, on the ground.”
For what it’s worth, this wouldn’t be the first time thatEAhas specifically brought up Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. Just a day ago, Christian Grass, vice president and executive producer at Ripple Effect, called the entries the “pinnacle” of Battlefield while also revealing that Battlefield 6 will be a spiritual successor of sorts.
Perhaps most interesting is that Uchil’s words come after potential cosmetics for Battlefield 6’s multiplayer mode were leaked online.
Battlefield 6’s Cosmetics Look “Grounded,” For The Time Being
Before the larger multiplayer reveal of BF6 that took place on Thursday,a datamine showcased several of the skins that could be part of the game come launch, all of which have that “grounded” look to them.
The leak, which has since been removed via a copyright strike, showcased operators in traditional military grab without any of the extra silliness that has plagued some recent games. Specifically,Battlefield fans were adamant that they didn’t want any “clown” skins in the game when it launched, and it seems like their wish has been granted, at least for the time being. However, as much as it is a contentious issue with fans, executives don’t seem to mind all the silliness all that much.
Ultimately, only time will tell if EA and Battlefield Studios keep their word when it comes to the “grounded” approach, or if Battlefield will too fall victim to collaborations and crossovers shortly after launch.
