As thepotential for stick drifton the recently releasedNintendo Switch 2continues to haunt new owners, with some already reporting that they’ve fallen victim to the problem, one company is stepping up to save the day.
GuliKit, a company dedicated to providing “patented drift-free magnetic joysticks for better gaming,” has shared on social media that it is actively working on a magnetic replacement that will seemingly prevent stick drift from being an issue on the Switch 2 Joy-Cons.
The company has been selling replacement sticks for the original Joy-Cons,arguably the original source for gamers learning about stick drift. Already, the company also alleges that it’s the first third-party controller to be able to wake up the Switch 2,something that not even the original Switch Pro Controller is able to do.
The Potential For Stick Drift On Switch 2 Joy-Cons Is Extremely High
In the lead-up to the Switch 2’s launch,it was confirmed that the newest set of Joy-Cons wouldn’t feature Hall Effect joysticks, a key means to preventing stick drift. Then, when the Switch 2 launched, Nintendo had already opened its repair website to allow for Joy-Con repairs due to drift.
A tear-down of the Switch 2 Joy-Cons revealed that the peripherals were largely the same as the originals, meaning stick drift can and will happen. If that wasn’t enough, one user shared on social media that they had fallen victim to the issue right out of the box.
In the time since then, other Switch 2 owners have also shared that they have been experiencing stick drift, too. It’s helped create a situation that will seemingly persist throughout the Switch 2’s lifecycle, just as it did with the Switch 1.
