We’re getting a newSuper Meat Boy, with Super Meat Boy 3D announced at theXbox Games Showcase. It’s set to launch in early 2026.
The announcement trailer gives us cinematic and gameplay footage, showing what our first mainline Super Meat Boy game in five years is going to look and play like.
Here’s Our First Look At Super Meat Boy 3D
Super Meat Boy is renowned for its difficulty, and judging from what we see in the trailer, Super Meat Boy 3D is no exception. At least with the older games, we only had two dimensions to contend with - and that was hard enough. This time, as the title suggests, the levels are in 3D, so there are dangers coming from all angles.
“Super Meat Boy 3D is exactly what you love about the series: a challenging platformer where you guide a cube of meat on a mission to rescue his bandage-made girlfriend from a villainous fetus in a jar - now in 3D!” reads ablog postfrom Xbox. “You’ll wall-jump through buzzsaws, collapsing caves, and fiery forests, dying countless times along the way.
“With old-school difficulty, fast-paced gameplay, tough bosses, and plenty of secrets, it’s a new dimension for Meat Boy. Wishlist Super Meat Boy 3D today on the Xbox Store and get ready to die again and again and again when you play it day one on Game Pass.”
While it was announced at the Xbox showcase, it will also be available onPlayStationandPC. There’s no word on aNintendo Switch 2port just yet.
Super Meat Boy 3Dfollows on from Super Meat Boy Forever, which launched in 2020. Super Meat Boy 3D will be the third mainline entry in the series, with the first game launching all the way back in 2010, so this has been a much more manageable wait between sequels.
We don’t have an exact release date, outside of the early 2026 window. However, we did get a good look at the gameplay, so it looks likely that it will be ready then.
