Ego, in the psychological sense, gives humans a sense of self and a mask that we present to the world as our best, or at times worst, selves. Games have long since tried to encapsulate the human struggle of our sense of ego through various stories, and Limbus Company’s attempt takes the worst of humanity’s ego and holds a mirror to it.
Dante and his party of sinners are cursed with facing an untold number of versions of their E.G.O (Extermination of Geometrical Organ), revealing both incredible powers and the most disgusting secrets they wouldn’t reveal to their closest ally. Which E.G.O is the strongest, and which causes the most damage, to both enemy and ally alike?
7Ebony Stem - Outis
Twisting The Ebony Apple To Her Will
If you’re lucky enough to grab this E.G.O unit from the gacha pull, you’ll have a powerful, double-sided weapon in the palm of your hand. In her default state, Ebony Stem Outis can hit up to five targets at once. That’s not all though. If you’re lucky, you’ll add both rupture and bind to your targets as well. You can also choose to let corrosion set in.
The bloodshed from Outis’ Corrosion is chaotic and indiscriminate. Her bony roots dig into the earth, just as before, but instead of aiming in the correct direction, it will attack everyone on the field on both sides. Now, we’re not saying it’s worth the price of your sinner teammates, but it can clear a field of difficult enemies fairly quickly.
6Telepole - Don Quixote
She Will Strike You Where You Stand
Back upon its release, Telepole Don, as the fans have so lovingly come to call her, has found her niche on the field as a unit that can generate charge to both herself and random allies, which boosts their strength for up to 20 turns, while diminishing by one each turn. Corroded works in the same way as before, except this time there’s the added bonus of gaining a charge.
However, the meta shifted, leaning toward other builds. Telepole Don can still be useful in the right composition, but you’ll get more out of her now as a backup unit instead. We can still all agree that this design is still really great though. Not to mention, her electric attack is impressive to witness, even now.
5Regret- Meursault
Ultraviolence Can’t Be Restrained
Try as you might, you may’t contain the type of person that will shoot someone for the crime of ‘the sun is too hot’. Yet, here he is; the straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense man who will follow orders to a T. At least, that’s who he used to be. Slowly, he’s opening up and caring about others. Something that could make him even more dangerous.
The regret he feels manifests as being confined in a straitjacket while using a wrecking ball to do all the damage for him. Each attack that lands causes Tremor damage, knocking enemies off their feet and staggering them easily. Not to mention, he gains a buff for every ailment he clears with a coin roll of heads. He’s a gift-wrapped brute force powerhouse.
4Dimension Shredder - Yi Sang
Cut Through Time And Space
It’s fitting that one of Yi Sang’s E.G.Os manifests is one that tears through dimensions. Coming from a scientific background and creating the mirror allows all sinners to tap into that same dimensional energy and manifest different identities to learn from. Are you surprised he can cut through with such ease?
Coupling the Dimensional Shredder with his W Corp Identity will make him essentially an instant Rupture generator. Rupture gives the target fixed damage anytime it takes damage from the attacker, melting them down with ease. If that still isn’t enough damage for you, each charge spent casts a dimensional rift, which gives you more rupture counts on top of what you have.
3Hex Nail - Rodion
Gifted With A Cursed Smile
It’s right there in the name. If you’re going around trying to fight something with Hex in the name, you’re asking to get cursed. And while other E.G.Os look at least a little broken up about the ordeal, Rodion looks completely blissful while condemning you to a life of pain and misery before death at the hands of her teddy bear.
At her behest, the teddy bear connected by the symbolic red stringswill strike several times in a row, causing bleed damage to anyone unlucky enough caught in those claws. The unluckiness continues, as those attacks also hit you with a curse, which gives a defense debuff to the target.
24th Match Flame - Ryoshu
The Art Of Scorching Fire
Despair is eternal in the Project Moon universe, and you have no further proof than the scorching girl. She is an Abnormality who has been suffering since their first game, Lobotomy Corporation, and took that sorrow out on her captors by escaping and blowing them up with her immortal body.
That sorrow and pain transcended two games into Limbus Company and now has been bestowed on Ryoshu, who finds beauty in violence and pain. She puts it to good use by burning everything in her path with it and causing burn to both enemy and ally alike if corroded. Others can utilize this ego, but somehow, it feels at home here.
1Fluid Sac - Faust
Healing Both Mind And Body With Fluid
There are other E.G.O units and Identities that can heal HP, SP, or both simultaneously, but they can and do usually come at a cost of sanity that you may not have when you need it the most. Faust, as always, has found that the best solution is tojust offer healing as efficiently as possible. As only Faust can, of course.
She can heal 15 percent of HP for all allies as well as 15 SP for all allies after her attack. Get lucky and roll heads, then the party gets an extra ten SP. Fluid Sac Faust is amazing at generating SP quickly for fights that are Sanity-demanding battles, even so long after being released, proving she has staying power.
