With justeight days until the releaseofMafia: The Old Country, its developer, Hangar 13, sent fans and those who were keen on purchasing the upcoming title into a frenzy when it revealed the rather beefyPCrequirements on social media, including a new “Epic” preset that requires, at minimum, a 4070 TI.
Many took those requirements to mean that the console versions of The Old Country would be incapable of running the game at 60fps, with some threatening to cancel their pre-orders if the worst-case scenario was revealed — 30fps at launch.
However, Hangar 13 was quick to correct the course, putting everyone’s fears to bed, at least for now.
The Old Country Will Be Playable At 60fps On Console
In a follow-up post shared on Twitter, both thePlayStation 5andXbox Series Xversions of the game will be able to hit 60fps via a Performance mode that will be available at launch.
Additionally, those who aren’t too fussed by frame rates can opt for a Quality Mode that will prioritize higher resolution and fidelity. That too will seemingly be available at launch, allowing players to game however they see fit. Based off the post, it doesn’t sound like the Performance option will be relegated to just those who have a PlayStation 5 Pro console.
It’s a rather welcome update for a game that has seen its fair share of lumps from fans, including some disappointment over a recent gameplay reveal, plusa need for the developers to reaffirm that, despite the game’s lower pricepoint, it won’t be a short experience.
