Summary
In case you missed it,Stellar Bladeis set to come toPCviaSteamnext weekon June 11. In the lead-up to its PC launch, there was some concern over its PSN requirements. However,it appears that those concerns have been put to rest for the time being.
Ahead of that launch, its developer, Shift Up, has released a playable demo that will carry over progress to the main game. Unsurprisingly, the demo has opened to a massive player count that beats even some recent heavy-hitters.
The Full Stellar Blade Release Might Set Some Records
Taking to SteamDB,a site that tracks all things Steam-related, the Stellar Blade demoreached an all-time peak of 26,443 players. As of this writing, its 24-hour peak is 13,669, and right now, 3,883 players are going through the game.
To put those numbers into perspective, the PC release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle only managed a peak of 12,138 players. Elsewhere,ARC Raiders, which will seemingly release any minute now, had21,515 players for its playtest.
The demo is also dangerously close to catching up to the peak player ofDoom: The Dark Ages, as the recently released title has hit 31,470 players.
All of those numbers point to a game that is poised to be a major success come release day. For what it’s worth, back in February, Shift Up revealed that it believes the game’s PC release could surpass the sales numbers of the PS5, and in anticipation of that, began heavily optimizing the version to avoid a disastrous launch. In other words, it looks like things are just getting started for Stellar Blade.
