Stellar Blade’s director, Kim Hyung-tae, has responded to the game’s success onSteamand massive mod support, while noting that he still thinks the “official content” is better.
When Stellar Blade launched on PS5 last year, it was almost instantly a massive successthanks to positive reviews and very good sales. That was just the start for the game, however, as its recent launch on Steam has proven to be even more successful withmassive player counts and, of course, averypopular modding scene.
I’m sure you caninstantly guess what kind of mods have already been created for Stellar Blade since it released on Steamat the start of this week. Whilethosemods are about as popular as you’d expect, it seems that they’re not exactly impressing the game’s director, who thinks they’re “cool” but lacking some “firepower”.
Stellar Blade Director Says Current Mods Are Lacking “Firepower”
The Gauntlet Has Been Thrown Down
As pointed out by Twitter user Genki_JPN, Stellar Blade’s director,Kim Hyung-tae, recently took part in an interview with Thisisgame, where he discussed the game’s massive second round of success. Alongside giving us a brief update on the sequel to Stellar Blade and admitting the first game’s story is lacking, Hyung-tae also shared his thoughts on Stellar Blade’s modding scene.
During the interview, Hyung-tae is asked about Shift Up’s thoughts on modding, which leads to him praising the concept and saying that they add a lot to the “game experience and scope”. After issuing a warning about being careful with mods, Hyung-tae laughed andsaid that (according to Google Translate) that the “firepower of modders is still weak” and “a bit lacking”.
Since we don’t provide official modding tools, it’s hard to change the entire game, but we’re looking forward to seeing mods that slightly change the way you enjoy the game. Of course, mods like new costumes or monster visuals are cool. - Kim Hyung-tae
Hyung-tae says that, right now at least, the “official content is still better” when it comes to Stellar Blade’s modding scene. When asked what he’d like to see that wouldn’t be “lacking”, Hyung-Tae noted that it’s hard to predict what mods can do, but that hewants to see some that “slightly change the way you enjoy the game”.
