Stellar Bladehas beenhaving a great time on PC; andPC players have been having a great time with Stellar Blade. The game hasperformed better than any other PlayStation PC port, including the likes of Ghost of Tsushima and God of War. While some people thinkthe success is because of the combat, thesheer number of NSFW mods for the gamesay otherwise.

With such success, there’s undoubtedly talk of a sequel over at Shift Up. While there’s been no official word on it, you can be sure that the devs are already making early drafts for a sequel. If there’s one thing director Kim Hyung-tae wants to improve in a potential sequel, it’s the thing everyone loves about the game – the narrative, of course.

Stellar Blade Director Wants To Focus On Narrative For A Possible Sequel

In an interview with Korean news siteThis is Game(viaGamesRadar+), Hyung-tae agreed that the story was the weakest link in Stellar Blade, and if a sequel were to be green-lit, he would focus on the narrative aspect. “I think it is true that the story is weak. The game’s core play system was completed relatively early, but the thing that held us back the most was the cutscenes,” he said (translated via Google).

“In an action game that carries the narrative, cutscenes play a very important role in storytelling. It is difficult to convey the entire story with action alone. That is why we have to carry the narrative through cutscenes, but at first, we tried to make a lot of settings and cutscenes,” he added.

“It is true that there were some shortcomings in the narrative in that regard, and if we hastily supplement this part in Stellar Blade now, it may clash with the story that users have accepted so far, so we are cautious. However, if we are given the opportunity to create the next work, I think we will be able to present it with a sufficiently rich narrative.”

So, if Stellar Blade 2 were to ever launch, Shift Up will be hoping to put in a lot more work into the narrative. Of course, that doesn’t mean it will dial down on what makes the game so popular, especially with the modding community.
