I’ve been playingStardew Valleysince not long after it launched. I’ve married everyone a time or two by now, and I’ve also fallen in love with everyone’s favorite sewer critter, too. When it’s time to start another farm, how am I to choose who I marry?

We’ve ranked the Stardew spouses by their spouse rooms, by how easy they are to marry, and more. But I’m here today to look at howvaluablethey are as a spouse in terms of their gifts. I’ve given you guys tons of presents already - what areyougoing to giveme?

Leah from Stardew Valley in front of an image of white and brown mushrooms.

Leah

Leah’s whole thing is living a natural lifestyle, with most of her loved gifts being whole foods and artisan cooking, and I can respect that for her. But girl,I’ve been collecting all these very same foraging itemsas you have been around town – I’m good on free mushrooms.

Leahdoes give a bottle ofWineon New Year’s Eve, Winter 28, but throughout the rest of the year, you’re looking at a real foraging treasure trove of mushrooms, berries, and flowers you’ve been collecting yourself. At least she’ll make you aSaladfor dinner sometimes…

Shane from Stardew Valley in front of an image of brown and white eggs.

Shane

I thinkShanehas one of the more compelling stories in any cozy game I’ve ever played, and I always try to make it a point to befriend him. That said, I want to believe he’d eatsomething nicer than Pepper PoppersandPizzaonce we got married.

He’ll still be the adoring farmhand you know, offeringLarge EggandVoid Egg(evenOmeletmade from them, too), but between theBeerand greasy food, I think my gut would thank me for staying with someone whose food gifts are at least a little less brutal on my digestive tract.

Harvey from Stardew Valley in front of a selection of vegetables.

Harvey

I try not to be materialistic in real life – I specifically told my real-life partner that large gifts make me feel a little awkward – but this man is a doctor. I know he’s not the absolutely richest one in the world, but he could probably do a little better than occasional food.

Harveydoesn’t stay home too often, and that’s the only time he’ll give you the best of his food-based gifts, theComplete Breakfast. At least the meals he gives you are characteristically healthy, balanced meals like a doctor may suggest.

Elliott from Stardew Valley in front of several fancy cappucinos with designs.

Elliott

Elliottkind of has a high buy-in price, asking for loved gifts you won’t typically get until a bit later in the game unless you opt for the fruit bat cave whenDemetriusasks you early on. He does eke out the other two, though, because he’s got a third occasion on which he may give you something edible.

He’ll give you a bottle of Wine on New Year’s Eve, and you can either re-gift it to someone else or sell it for a profit. Plus, as a writer, I really respect the amount ofCoffeehe gives you when he makes a pot for himself.

Haley from Stardew Valley in front of an image of a dinner buffet.

Haley

I don’t typically tend to enjoy spending time withHaleythroughout the game – she’s usually the last of the bachelorettes I befriend – but I do respect the sheer variety of foods she might offer you throughout the day as a gift.

Your rainy-day breakfast menu has sweets likePoppyseed MuffinorBlueberry Tart, mornings she stays at the house when it’s nice out tend to come with more wholesome options likeBreadand Omelets, and rainy nights bring the decadent promise of heartier foods likeEggplant ParmesanorBean Hotpot.

Alex from Stardew Valley in front of an image of a person fishing on open waters from a pier.

Alex

I will cutAlexa little bit of slack and put him last of the food-heavy gifters, because he doesn’t exactly demand the world when you give him the gifts he loves – Complete Breakfast,Salmon Dinner, or theJack Be Nimble, Jack Be Quickbook after the Bookseller was added. That said, his is still not a particularly exciting slew of potential gifts.

If you’re playing as a farmer whose forte is fishing, though, that relatively consistent portion ofDish O' The Seato provide aplus-three boost to Fishingfor five and a half minutes in real-time could come in handy, but I’m not exactly blown away by him sometimes giving me fish to eat.

Sam from Stardew Valley in front of an image of a pizza.

Sam

Samis where I began moving up a tier in my list of spouses who primarily offer you edible gifts, because Sam has a relatively rarer gift to offer sometimes. On rainy days when he stays indoors, he may just offer you aGeodeinstead of desert findings.

The Pizza andPancakesare underwhelming (even if the bit about only knowing how to make instant pancakes is pretty cute), but that Geode could contain anything. Sam might just help mecomplete that museum collectionat long last.

Penny from Stardew Valley in front of a blurred image of a breakfast table full of different foods.

Penny

Pennyis the other Pelican Town single who may offer you a Geode if you chat with her inside on a rainy morning much like Sam will, but I’ve placed her higher than Sam because the other gifts she might give you instead are more varied and impressive.

She’ll make you wholesome dinners on rainy nights, stuff likeCarp SurpriseorVegetable Medley, while days she’s staying home come with breakfast staples like Omelets,Hashbrowns, and Pancakes - ones I bet she didn’t make from a box.

Sebastian from Stardew Valley in front of an image of minerals.

Sebastian

Sebastianis where the gifts your Stardew sweetheart might bring to the table get a little bit weirder, since he’ll offer you anything fromObsidiantoFrozen TeartoAmethystif you catch him on a rainy day.

In fact, Sebastian doesn’t really offer much in the way of food at all. He’ll make you Coffee if he’s staying home on a rainy day, he may give aCave Carrot, and he’ll offer you a Beer to ring in New Year’s Eve. Overall, though, Sebastian’s gifts are where we get a little more material.

Abigail from Stardew Valley in front of a mine railway.

Abigail

Abigailhas a higher barrier to her loved gifts, asking for autumnal goods or gemstones, but man, does she give you a real assortment in exchange. She clearly spends some time down in the Mines herself, with a slew ofSolar EssenceandVoid Essenceon offer, as well as Amethysts andFire Quartz.

On rainy nights, she’ll stay home and make you one of a few different types of soups, and when she stays home for the day, she’ll even hand you aCherry Bombor full-sizedBombbefore you go off on your adventure.
