Summary
Star Wars Dayis over for another year. So is Revenge of the Fifth, the fun follow-up to Star Wars Day fans of the series have coined. However,Squishmallowshas kept the BB-8 rolling by waiting until today, May 6, to reveal the first new additions to its Star Wars collection in five years.
Squishmallows celebrated Star Wars Dayby revealing that it had some Star Wars plushes to show off for the first time since 2020, but noted it wouldn’t be revealing them until May 6. At the time of typing this, the official reveal hasn’t happened. However, listings for the new Squishmallows are already live on Amazon.
There’s a chance the official reveal will include more than the three Squishmallows currently listed on Amazon. If so, the other reveals will be added to this article when they’re shown off.
This week’s Star Wars Squishmallows drop includes three new designs -Darth Vader, The Mandalorian, and a Stormtrooper. All helmet-wearing Star Wars characters which kind of makes sense if you think about it. Even though helmets are hard and shiny, the antithesis of a Squishmallow, the rounded design makes them the perfect Squishmallow shape.
Squishmallows Has Some Star Wars Plushes To Reveal To Keep The May 4 Vibes Alive
Forget Star Wars Day, Let’s Make This Star Wars Week
Even though the trio of new Squishmallows could be perfectly round, all of them have slight tweaks to their designs to make them even more unique. Darth Vader and Mando’s Squishmallows are wearing capes, while the Stormtrooper Squishmallow has a mishapen head to match the shape of an actual Stormtrooper’s helmet.
The introduction of three new Star Wars Squishmallows brings the total of characters from a galaxy far, far way to be given the Squishmallow treatment up to seven. In 2020, Jazwares kicked off its Star Wars Squishmallows collection withGrogu, BB-8, R2-D2, and Chewbacca Squishmallows. Predictable first Squishmallows, but seven designs and five years later, I’m amazed there still isn’t an Ewok Squishmallow.
The three new Squishmallows are all12 inches tall and cost $19.99 each. There is a downside to all of this, though. Jazwares has revealed its new Star Wars Squishmallows well in advance of you being able to get your hands on them. While all three can be pre-ordered on Amazon through the links in the boxes below, they won’t arrive until Jul 02, 2025,at the earliest. Merry Christmas, I guess.
Darth Vader Star Wars Squishmallow
Darth Vader is about as far from soft and squishy as is possible. That hasn’t stopped Jazwares from adding the most iconic villain in movie history into a Squishmallow, though. The Darth Vader Squishmallow is wearing a black cape, and the Sith’s red lightsaber is incoporated into the plush’s design.
The Mandalorian Star Wars Squishmallow
The Mandalorian has become one of Star Wars' most well-loved characters since being introduced via his Disney Plus show. So much so that Mando is one of the first Star Wars characters to be turned into a Squishmallow. No, you’re able to’t remove its helmet. That is not the way, Squishmallow or not.
Stormtrooper Star Wars Squishmallow
So many series have iconic minions doing the dirty work of that series' villains. For almost 50 years, those minions have been Stormtroopers in the Star Wars universe. Their hard while armor might not make them perfect Squishmallow fodder, but foot soldiers are well known enough that their design is among the first to have been turned into a Star Wars Squishmallow.
Hopefully Pokemon’s next Squishmallows will be here before then. The next two additions to Pokemon’s Squishmallow collection will be Torchic and a Smiling Pikachu. The latter will be the third time Pikachu has been turned into a Squishmallow. I know he’s popular, but considering the limited number of Pokemon Squishmallows, that feels like a little much.
