Ready or Nothas been dragged down to a ‘Mostly Negative’ review score on Steam over the ‘censorship’ made to the PC version. VOID Interactive explained that the update was required to keep the ESRB rating for the long-awaited console port, which requires parity with PC for cross-platform, but fans don’t care—they’re demanding that the changes be reversed.

The ‘censorship’ is pretty minor; convulsing children were replaced by sleeping ones; female hostages now have underwear, and post-mortem dismemberment has been removed.

Whilethe review bomb has been widely successfulin getting across that message, calls for a boycott have fallen flat. Across Steam and Reddit, players have been urging one another to vote with their wallets, making it clear that the game will suffer if VOID Interactive doesn’t buckle to the pressure. But as you’re able to see onSteamDB, the game is thriving.

Right now, on a Monday morning, it has over 8,000 players, with a 24-hour peak of 17,269. For comparison, it hit a peak of 13,419 in June, when the drama began, and the month prior, it reached a concurrent peak of 10,559 players. Despite the backlash and outpouring of negative reviews, the player count is only continuing to climb.

Ready Or Not Is Half Price On Steam, So It’s Hardly Surprising That It’s Drawing A Crowd

It’s not just the community refusing to put down the game that has helped boost its player count, but the huge influx of newcomers thanks to the Summer Sale. For the next three days, you may grab Ready or Not at half price for just $24.99, which, with all of the buzz stirred up by the console port, has made people curious.

Review bombing means nothing when it’s so easy to do—u/volstic.

Ready or Not is currently ranked number 14 in Steam’s top-sellers list (or 10th, if we discount free-to-play games and the Steam Deck). It’s beating out heavy hitters likeDune: Awakening,Rust,Stardew Valley, andElden Ring Nightreignfor that spot, even with a Mostly Negative anchor tied to its waist.

So, while the reviews show that people are upset, the figures show that they’re not upset enough to put the game down.
