It’s no longer a secret. Sonic the Hedgehog is speeding toMagic: the Gatheringtomorrow, and the drop will likely sell out fast.

Since its announcement, TheGamer has been hard at work producing many, many Commander guides for each mainline commander announced in the latest Secret Lair Sonic the Hedgehog drop. The only issue fans have with the release is the way the cards are coming to market. Fans can only purchase the new set through the now-scorned Secret Lair drop system, which the community has panned as a miserable experience ever since a specializedMonty Python and the Holy Grail setdropped last year.

Fans will often rush to the site the moment the releases drop (often on a Monday), and find themselves face-to-face with a queue screen, seemingly frozen aside from the intruding reminders of what is sold out and what fans can’t buy during the excruciating wait.Secret Lair used to distribute highly-sought cardsin a print-to-order fashion (which would leave fans waiting for months), but have since shifted to a queue system that fans lampoon as broken.

The latest Secret Lair drop that contained Final Fantasy Universes Beyond sold out in two hours, while fans were waiting for 5+ hours with the hopes of getting anything from the sale.

Tomorrow’s drop hopes to right the turbulence the sales drop faces, and Wizards of the Coast has finally instituted a buyer limit on how much an individual can grab from the drop. This is a different approach from what fans called the ‘scalper friendly’ option during the SpongeBob SquarePants Secret Lair drop, which contained four copies of each card and treatment, with no limit on purchases. Wizards of the Coast has implemented a 2-item-per-customer limit on the Sonic the Hedgehog Secret Lair, in hopes it will deter reselling and encourage fan purchases.

MTG Sonic The Hedgehog Has A 2-Item Limit Per Purchase

On the official release page for the MTG Sonic the Hedgehog drop, Wizards of the Coast added an editor’s note that lets users know they cannot purchase more than 2 items of the same kind per transaction. The Magic: The Gathering posting reads: “Please note that customers may purchase up to two (2) of each product listing (traditional foil drops, non-foil drops, and bundles) while supplies last,” which is a 180 from the SpongeBob SquarePants drop from just a few months ago.

It’s worth mentioning that while the editor’s note was just added, each checkout on Secret Lair had the same disclaimer on the checkout screen, so it remains to be seen if this hard limit will be reinforced tomorrow. Fans interested should remember to head to the official website to get in line, as the Sonic the Hedgehog drops are only available atMagicSecretLair.comand are available in limited quantities. The sale starts at 12:00 p.m. EST on Monday, July 14, so fans can get in line then. Good luck to all!
