Summary

Shadow, Rouge, even Sonic in his Werehog form, they all haveFunko Pops. There’s stillSonicground that Funko is yet to tread, though, and a few more characters from Green Hill will be making their Funko Pop debuts later this week.

Sonic’s roster runs deeper than you might think, which is why Funko still has opportunities to hand first appearances to characters that have appeared across other forms of Sonic media.Four characters are making their Funko Pop debuts later this week, two of which I’m a little surprised to discover haven’t been given the Pop treatment already, while the other two are characters I didn’t think we’d ever see in Funko Pop form.

The two characters you might be surprised to discover don’t already have their own figures areBlaze and Espio. The cat and the chameleon are pretty well-known Sonic characters at this stage, so to see certain others beat them to the Funko punch is a little surprising. WhileI’m very happy Big the Cat already has his own Funko Pop, I’d put the fishing-loving friend of Froggy in the same notability bracket as Blaze and Espio.

Four More Sonic Funko Pops Will Be Released This Week

Be Honest, Did You Ever Think Neo Metal Sonic Would Be A Funko Pop?

The two much deeper cuts that will be joining Blaze and Espio later this week areJet and Neo Metal Sonic. While Jet has appeared in a lot of games, most of those appearances have come in Sonic’s racing titles. He will return inSonic Racing Crossworldslater this year, which might be why theSega-made hawk is getting a Funko Pop.

Neo Metal Sonic is the deepest cut of all. The alternate form of Metal Sonic was introduced inSonic Heroesand hasn’t really been mentioned much since. There’s also no mention of the evil hedgehog bot being a part of Crossworlds, although the character may be added at a later date, with Sega teasing what appears to be a pretty expansive roster.

It has also pretty much confirmed thatcharacters from non-Sonic games will join its roster. Majima, Shadow, and Axel fromCrazy Taxiall lined up on the same start line sounds like ingredients for a Game of the Year if you ask me.

As for how and when you may get your hands on these new Funko Pops, according toThe Scarlet Joker, all four will be droppingthis Wednesday, June 4, at midday EST. There’s no mention of any of them being exclusive to a particular storefront, so they should be available to buy wherever you usually pick up your Funko Pops. As for prices, no indication yet, but Neo Metal Sonic might be a little bit more expensive as it has a metallic finish.
