We’re only a handful of months away from the release ofSonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the latest installment inSonic’s own racing series,which will see the likes of SpongeBob and Patrick also join in. While the roster may be chaotic, the gameplay won’t,as it’s being tuned to avoid Blue Shell equivalents.
That said, another bit of chaos is starting to rise. Just days afterit was rumored that CrossWorlds would not be a Game Key Card, it looks like the opposite might be the case.

As first shared on social media by Wario64, a Sega customer service agent responded to a customer inquiry by letting them know that the Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds would be a Game Key Card.
Those previous rumors of it being a full cartridge could be the result of mock-up box art that hasn’t been finalized, which might’ve given a false impression.
Adding to the potential legitimacy was Gematsu, which noted that Sega’s releases on the Switch 2 have been Game Key Cards, among some other details, such as the mock-up not including “Switch 2 Edition,” a key part of the official art.
So we’ve been left with two possibilities for a game that doesn’t even have an official Switch 2-specific release date yet:
Either way,it’s created yet another confusing situationfor a console that hasn’t even been on the market for a whole month.
