Sonic Racing: CrossWorldshas confirmed once and for all that the Werehog version of Sonic won’t have voice lines at all, and fansreallyaren’t happy about it.

Over the past few months,Sega has shone a massive spotlight on a key element of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds- its star-studded roster. Alongside mainstays like Sonic, Amy, and Eggman,CrossWorlds has a host of guest characters, ranging from Sega icons like Ichiban and Hatsune Miku to third-party properties like Minecraft’s Steve and SpongeBob bloody SquarePants.

Sonic Racing games have always been known for having some weird characters, but CrossWorlds is taking that further than ever before. There’s been one noticeable downside to it all, though - the lack of voice acting for any of the guests. It was bad enough with SpongeBob and Patrick only making bubble noises, but it’s just hit a new low.

It looks like none of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' DLC characters will have a voice, including the Sega guests

“HE AINT A QUIET DOG, HE’S A LOUD WOLF-HEDGEHOG!”

For some time now, we’ve known that thepre-order bonus for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is none other than the Werehog version of Sonicfrom Sonic Unleashed. Fans were hopeful that we might get to see Jason Griffith return to the role, or at least hear Roger Craig Smith’s take on what the Werehog might sound like now.

Unfortunately, it turns out that neither of those is going to be the case.A clip of the Werehog in action was recently shared, which confirms that he won’t be speaking at all, instead using Unleashed’s jump noise as a sound bite. This is a bit of a trend with CrossWorlds,as the gameplay for SpongeBob confirmed he only had bubble sound effects.

It’s been confirmed that Ichiban and Hatsune Mikualso won’t have voice lines.

While it did suck to see SpongeBob of all characters silenced, it did make a little sense considering he’s a guest character. With the Werehog, though, it’s really confusing that he has no voice lines at all sinceRoger Craig Smith admitted that he was up for doing it but wasn’t even asked.

As you can imagine, this has caused quite a backlash from fans, with some calling it “comically cheap"not to have the Werehog specifically include voice lines., who outright said that it’s “just unacceptable for a 70 dollar game”.
