Bethesdawanted to make sure thatThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredwas exactly how we remembered, but with better visuals. That’s why the devs at Virtuos made sure theyleft in the original charm, bugs, jank, mistakes, and all. However, theSkyblivionfan project has no qualms in changing the game as a ground up remake.
The team has already said thatit will bring the original Oblivion’s dungeons more in line with that of modern day RPGs,and the project’s latest developer update has revealed another big change. As noted byPC Gamer, the run-down fort of Sutch in Oblivion was originally supposed to be an entire city, and Skyblivion will aim to reintroduce this cut content.
Skyblivion Will Feature Cut Content From Oblivion
Sutch was originally supposed to be the eighth city in Cyrodiil, but was eventually cut before the original launch of Oblivion. In its place is now a ruined fort, like the ones you’ll occasionally come across in the game. As Skyblivion looks to expand on the ideas of the original, it will reintroduce Sutch as it was originally intended, although it will still be in a ruined state.
In its latest developer diary, it was revealed that the ruined fort at Sutch will be expanded upon to make it an entire ruined city instead of just a fort. It will still be filled with bandits and other NPCs, and even feature its own patron Divine thanks to a derelict chapel that was built in the honour of Kynareth.
Skyblivion is really working out to be a love letter to what many consider to be the best Elder Scrolls game in the series. The developers have clearly done their homework not only on how to improve the gameplay and visuals, but also with regard to adding new content within the lore of the game.
While there’s a lot more mentioned in the dev diary, another stand-out point was armour pieces will accommodate beast races like Khajiit and Orcs. Tails, ears, horns, and even the shape of helmets will be customised to better suit the physical attributes of these races.
