Skyblivion is launching this year, after more than ten years of development. However, without any way of knowing, this landed them in the same launch year asOblivion Remastered, which shadowdropped in April.
Some feared thatthe official remaster would steal Skyblivion’s thunder, butthe devs have made it clear that they don’t see it that way. And now, they’ve given us another look at the game, and it’s easy to see why - Skyblivion is certainly capable of doing its own thing.
New Skyblivion Images Show Off Immersive Lighting
As per description, the Skyblivion team says that the visuals will reflect the “time and conditions” of Cyrodiil, even from inside buildings. It does to show how much attention to detail is going into this fan-made remake, making it perfectly capable of standing on its own two feet.
We don’t have a specific release date for Skyblivion just yet, but it is set to be with us at some point in 2025. When it launches, we’ll be able to pick it up on GOG, and in fact, you can wishlist it now as you can any other game on the platform.
As a total conversion mod of Skyrim, you will need a copy of the game to play Skyblivion. However, if you have that, you’re good to go, as the mod itself will be released for free.
Better yet, we don’t have to worry aboutBethesdacoming down on the mod. The company has been aware of it for some time, and eveninvited the Skyblivion team to the studioafter Oblivion Remastered launched. That makes a nice change from how other companies in the industry have dealt with fan projects of this scale.
