Earlier this month,Bloober Team confirmed that it had begun work on remaking the first Silent Hill, returning to where it all began in 1999 as Harry Mason braved the snowy Maine streets in search of his adopted daughter.

It’s thrilling to see Konami bring back the series in earnest, withnew entries like Silent Hill f underwayalongside remakes of the genre-defining classics, but not everyone is happy about the news. “Guys… I don’t think we’re getting that Born from a Wish DLC,“u/SolidPyramid posted, capturing a sentiment that the community clearly shares, as the post attracted over 2,000 upvotes in mere hours.

For context, Born from a Wish is to Silent Hill 2 what Separate Ways is toResident Evil 4: a side-story that follows Maria before she meets James in Rosewater Park. There are nods to the optional scenario in the remake already, with Maria getting nervous when walking near the Baldwin mansionwhere much of the expansion takes place, while reputable leaker Dusk Golem even claims thatit will “be announced pretty soon.”

But with a Silent Hill remake confirmed before the DLC, fans are worried that the prequel has been left on ice.

It’s understandable why so many would be anxious that Bloober Team is done with Silent Hill 2 and moving on from James and Mary’s story, but there’s no reason to think that the first game getting a remake means that Born from a Wish isn’t coming.

The Silent Hill remake only just started development, so it’ll be a while before it’s in our hands. As many fans point out, Konami will be eager to build on the success of Silent Hill 2 in the meantime, and a smaller expansion to tie us over between games is the perfect way to do that. Looking at the series' history, it might even be right around the corner.

Fans Think Born From A Wish Might Launch Alongside The Silent Hill 2 Xbox Port

Way back in 2001, Konami released Silent Hill 2: Inner Fears (AKA the “Director’s Cut”) on Xbox, which was bundled with the Born from a Wish DLC and a new UFO ending. Sony’s one year exclusivity deal wraps up on September 25, so Silent Hill 2 will likely launch on Xbox shortly after. If the original game is anything to go by, then we could see the Maria-centric expansion launch alongside the new port, especially with Dusk Golem’s claim that an announcement is imminent.

Whatever ends up happening, the first Silent Hill getting a remake doesn’t change anything. As u/Kaiju-Special-Sauce explained, the reveal could “literally mean they’re finished with the design documenation”, or that it’s been greenlit. So, don’t give up hope yet — Born from a Wish could still be underway.
