There are so many different choices to make inTainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, and it’s difficult to know which ones will impact the future or just dictate your rewards. Some decisions have long-lasting consequences, like what you should do with Vidar and the Crows in the Horns of the South.
We’ll help you find Vidar in the wild and free him so you can decide whether to help him in his quest for vengeance or hand him over to the Crows as a bargaining chip. Here’s everything you need to know to make that choice and stick with it.
Where To Find Vidar
Tostart the Spread Your Wings quest, you’ll need tofind and freea man named Vidar. He’slocked in a cage at a bandit campnear the abandoned village, a bitsoutheast from Roscree. Cross the bridge and find the camp, thenslay the bandits.
You’llneed a keyto unlock the cage, which can befound in a nearby crate. Unlock the cage and ask Vidar any questions you have. When you ask where the bandits were taking him, you can agree to accompany him. He’ll then tell you to meet him at Roscree, an abandoned village nearby.
The bandits are part of an organization called the Crows, and Vidar is their target.
Should You Side With Vidar Or The Crows?
When you reach Roscree, you’ll see that no one other than you and Vidar are there. As you approach, he’ll comment on this just forthe Crows to pop out of the shadows. Here, you’llhear another sideof the story. While Vidar tells you that theCrows are master manipulatorsand ruined his family, the Crows tell a different tale.
The Crows explain thatVidar killed his own kin, and they want touse him as a bargaining chipto get a Wyrd researcher to work with them. They don’t plan to kill the estranged pict, but they do intend tolet his people decide his fate. All they ask is that youhand Vidar over.
Ask what questions you like, but the choice is yours. The evidence is more of a he-said she-said situation.
Siding With Vidar
If you side with Vidar, you’llhave a fighton your hands. Self is a powerful Crow, and she’s accompanied byseveral outlaws and highwaymenthat will pounce on you.Vidar can hold his own, so don’t worry about him.
When you eliminate the Crows, speak with Vidar. He’s glad you’ve decided to help him. You can eithercontinue to help him, which unlocks a questline based onremoving the Crows' influence on Kamelotand Avalon, or you can go your separate ways.
Make sure to loot the bodies so you can turn in the branded skin for bounties andcollect Self’s unique set of Crow armor.
How To Join The Crows
If you choose to hand Vidar over to his own people, there’s no fight.Instead, you’reinitiated into the Crowsby Self. You’ll receive yourown set of armor and the rank of Hatchling.
Additionally, you’ll get your first assignment. Thisunlocks a different questlinewhere you work with the Crows toeliminate specific targetsthat threaten the balance in Kamelot and Alavon.
Whose Side Should You Take?
Ultimately, it depends on your preferences. If you want tobe a stealthy assassinthat works in the shadows to influence the courts of Kamelot, you’ll want tohand Vidar over to the Crows.Vidar is willing togo to any length for his goalswhile theCrows strive for balance.
However, the Crows are a manipulative and dangerous bunchthat don’t take no for an answer. Being rid of them willallow Kamelot and Avalon the freedom to make their own choiceswithout the influence of the shadows.
