Teinaava and Ocheeva’s kin, a former Shadowscale named Scar-Tail, has disgraced himself, and it’s up to you to set things right, as Teinaava and Ocheeva are forbidden from killing kin.

While ‘The Renegade Shadowscale’ is an optional quest that you’re able to do at any time, you must complete itbefore finishing The Purification,as completing that quest will make it impossible to speak with Teinaava and finish his task. Get ready for a long journey to reach your target in Bogwater.

How To Start The Renegade Shadowscale

Once you’ve completed Scheduled For Executionand reported back to Vicente Valtieri, you can speak to Teinaava to learn about a special request.

Your disposition must be 70 or higher with Teinaava to get this quest.

Teinaava tells you about a fellow Argonian assassin,Scar-Tail,who has disgraced himself. Since Teinaava is forbidden from killing him, the task falls to you, beginning’The Renegade Shadowscale.'

From here, you’ll be tasked with traveling to thesoutheastern portion of the map to Bogwater,near the border of Black Marsh.

What Should You Do With Scar-Tail?

Once you arrive at Bogwater, you’ll finda small campwith a lone Argonian standing by the fire;this is Scar-Tail.

Approach Scar-Tail and learn about the assassin who has already arrived here, gravely injuring Scar-Tail and leaving you with a few options for how to proceed:

The treasure is in the large boulder near Scar-Tail’s tent if you want to skip the pleasantries and just take it.

Whichever methodyou choose, yourrewards will remain the samewhen you speak to Teinaava, and you may still grab the gold from the Hollowed-out Rock regardless of what you do to Scar-Tail, sothe choice is entirely personal.

Nothing major will change with any of these decisions, but leaving Scar-Tail alive can be useful if you everneed his blood to cure vampirism.
