After making your way through the first three layers ofDonkey Kong Bananza, the fourth layer is something completely different. Rather than asking you to go forth in search of bananas and fossils, you instead come to a crossroads, where you need to make a choice. But which choice should you make?

To your left, there isa snowy path, which takes you toa frozen tundra layer, Freezer Layer. Meanwhile, on the right there isa leafy path, which takes you toa foresty layer, Forest Layer. The names aren’t exactly a work of art. You don’t know much more than their aesthetics at this stage, but we’re here to make the choice easy for you.

Should I Take The Snowy Or Leafy Path In Donkey Kong Bananza?

The easiest answer here is thatit’s up to you. Youwon’t be closed off from either layerjust because you pick the other one, there’snot a notable difference in difficulty, and the powerup you get on each path won’t help you much in the other. The choice is as simple as it seems - jungle or snow first?

The snowy path featuresa lot of challenges that specifically rely on the end of level powerup, but thejungle level has a toxic lakethat can do a lot of damage very quickly if you fall off the islands. The jungle area also features a boss that is more annoying than it is difficult, whereas the snowy boss is more likely to deal damage.

If you’re really stumped,Frozen Layeris thefifthlayer, whileForest Layeris thesixth, so snowy path is the winner by default.

Can You Take Both Paths On Donkey Kong Bananza Layer Four, The Divide?

We’re giving this its own section to be clear, because it’s not entirely a straightforward answer. The short version is ‘yes’. Not onlycan you take both paths, you must. After completing one path, you’ll arrive at the seventh layer, which is covered in that classic purple shell. Youneed to complete both the layers to access the eighth layer.

Once you make your choice though, you arestuck on that level until you complete it,so ensure you’re not planning to go back to earlier levels to collect resources for a while.

What Are The Rewards For Freezer Layer And Forest Layer?

Both levels take a similar amount of time, offer basically the same Bananadium Gems (72 to 74) and an identical amount of fossils. However, both layers also havea unique powerup, which is the biggest difference between them.

OnFreezer Layer, you get a new power that turns you into azebra, allowing you torun faster- in this case, so fast that you’re able to outrun cracks in the ice to traverse fragile bridges. OnForest Layer, you get a new power that turns you into anostrich, allowing you tohover and drop eggs from above.

It’s most effective where there are specific updrafts of air, so it’s situational, making the zebra power marginally better for regular play, at least until you level the ostrich up for longer, stronger flight.
