Scott Pilgrim EX Announced At Summer Game Fest
The premise of Scott Pilgrim EX is that three gangs have taken over Toronto: vegans, robots, and demons. So, it’s very in keeping with the lore, even if it’s a new story in the series.
There will be seven playable characters, just as it was in the original, once you unlocked NegaScott and bought Knives and Wallace. However, with only Scott and Ramona revealed so far, we might get a new cast of fighters this time, especially since the exes aren’t the antagonists anymore.
Series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is involved with the game, but he’s not the only familiar face behind the scenes. Scott Pilgrim EX is being developed by Tribute Games, a studio made up of devs who worked on the first game. Better yet, Anamanaguchi returns for the soundtrack.
This comes as we see something of a Scott Pilgrim resurgence. The first game returned to storefronts with the Complete Edition in 2010, after it was previously delisted over licensing issues. After that,Scott Pilgrim Takes Off hit Netflix in 2023, well over a decade since the original graphic novel run ended andthe film adaptation premiered. And now, we have a new - and very unexpected - game, bringing back the characters for another new story.
Scott Pilgrim EX’s exact platforms are yet to be confirmed, other than PC and console. We’ll have to wait to find out what consoles it’s coming to, but the re-release of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game hit PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, which modes well for Scott Pilgrim EX.
