Grand Theft Auto 6’s long reign as the top “Trending” game on thePlayStationStore has been overtaken in the UK by a surprise contender -Rematch.
It goes without saying, butGTA 6 is going to be one of, if notthe, biggest video games of all time. That much has been true from the moment it was announced, so it came as no surprise to see it rocket up the PlayStation Store’s “Trending” games pagewhen it was made available to wishlist a few months ago.
Since then,GTA 6 has dominated the top spot in the “Trending” page of the PlayStation Storeacross pretty much every area of the world. Even whenmassive new games launched or were on the horizon, GTA 6 has kept its top spot and seemed immovable. That isn’t the case anymore, though.
GTA 6’s Top Spot On The PlayStation Store Has Been Stolen By Rematch
Talk About A Worldie Of A Goal
On the UK PlayStation Store, GTA 6’s month-long reign of being the number one trending game has been toppled by none other than Rematch.Sloclap’s online football game has been a massive hit since it launched last week, and it seems that it’s even big enough to take GTA 6’s crown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly considering it’s a football game, Rematch isn’t quite taking over the PlayStation Store worldwide.I checked the US PlayStation Store to see if it was also in the top spot, but GTA 6 is still ruling the roost there. Rematchisthe sixth most “Trending” game on the US store, though, so it’s clearly doing well.
There’s no real indication as to what makes a game “Trending” on the PlayStation Store, but it’s presumably about searches, wishlists, and purchases. GTA 6 really was that powerful that it didn’t need pre-orders to be number one.
As interesting as it is to see GTA 6 get toppled by a smaller indie game, there’s a good chance it doesn’t stay that way for long.Rematch is a recent release that’s currently hot, after all, while GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games that’s going to continue to be a big deal well into the next few years. Still, let’s all take a second to give Rematch its fair dos.
