A reliable insider has shared a final statement on everything they know aboutMetroid Prime 4: Beyond, which includes a surprising claim thatNintendoannounced it early to make up for Federation Force’s reception.
Metroid fans are no strangers to having to wait a very long time for information about the series, but the last few months have been a little weird when it comes to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.Despite having multiple trailers throughout the year and being set for 2025, Nintendo hasn’t said much about it in a while, leaving some to worry about its status.
Although Nintendo and Retro Studios haven’t shared anything on Prime 4 recently,we have heard a few claims about what’s going on behind the scenes thanks to reliable insider KiwiTalkz, who has a reputation for sharing news about Retro’s work. KiwiTalkz has said a lot about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond lately, including a big statement that’s meant to share as much as possible.
Metroid insider suggests Prime 4 was announced to make up for Federation Force
Beyond was seemingly planned as a cross-gen launch window release
Over on Twitter,KiwiTalkz shared what is seemingly his “very last post” regarding Retro and Prime 4considering all of the “drama that comes associated with it”. The post has some interesting tidbits, including that Prime 4 was meant to be a cross-gen launch title like Breath of the Wild (which explains the mural in London), but that it might have been swapped with Donkey Kong Bananza.
While that bit is just speculation, KiwiTalkz claims that Prime 4 hit a snag that’s described as a “severe” anomaly that’s currently being worked on. That explains the lack of updates, but KiwiTalkz also says that the marketing has been “weird” because the game was announced so early tomake up for the “backlash to Federation Force”.
It was deserved backlash, as Federation Force was exactly the kind of game fans didn’t want at a time when Metroid wasn’t getting many new entires.
The reception to Federation Force apparently caused Nintendo to go against its usual philosophy and announce the game early to “show fans they still care about the franchise”. If true, this explains why we’ve been waiting so long for any kind of news about Prime 4, and why it’s now slowing down so close to its apparent launch.
