Three days ago, Electronic Arts finally took the curtains offBattlefield 6with the cinematic unveiling of a game thatstill lacks any officially-revealed gameplay. DICE’s latest juggernaut will have a separate multiplayer reveal on July 31, but fans needn’t wait until then to learn far more about Battlefield 6’s full-blown battle royale mode - though I’m sure EA was hoping they would.
Prominent leaker and dataminer Temporyal, whopreviously showed the gaming communitysome work-in-progress single-player campaign footage, is back with a thorough examination of a soon-to-be-famous fictional destination called Lyndon Beach. This sprawling zone will be the setting for all the upcoming mayhem in “Battlefield Royale”, which is bound to be exactly what it sounds like.
Soaking In The Sights, Blowing Up Our Friends
Contrary to the hopes of some longtime players, the combined armada of Battlefield 6 developers collectively known as Battlefield Studios - that’s DICE, Motive, Ripple, and Criterion, for those following along at home - will, indeed, feature a battle royale mode. Temporyal has broken down every point-of-interest, big and small alike, that will inevitably be peppered to pieces by bullet storms and grenade-fueled explosions.
There are nine main areas along Lyndon Beach, as well as 27 distinct subsections. From a lighthouse, to a marina, to a golf resort, and the inevitable military installation, Lyndon Beach is positively popping off. Particularly intriguing to me is Temporyal’s analysis that the map includes “scattered hints of a metro system”. To be candid, I’m not entirely surewhymy mind keeps fixating on that part, but here we are.
While we’ve yet to receive an official release date for Battlefield 6, the link to (of all things) a legal disclaimer found at the end of thereveal trailerstrongly suggests the game will hit store shelves on June 20, 2025. Whether Battlefield Royale launches alongside it, or arrives in the months thereafter, remains to be seen. Either way, it looks like this will be an $80 USD release, which, while a bummer, is at least less surprising than it was when we learned the same forThe Outer Worlds 2. (Xbox has sincewalked back on that oneentirely.)
