Void Interactive’s SWAT-based shooterReady or Nothas been subject to controversy since 2021, whenTeam17 decided to pull out as its publisher after the discourse about its school shooting mission. Since then, the game was taken off Steam, and came back with a few changes. As it stands, the game will launch with some content being censored.
This hasn’t gone down well with a lot of people, resulting in the game getting tons of negative reviews on Steam even before it launches. In a bid to make the community understand just how much has been censored, the studio has released before-and-after instances of exactly what has been censored, which honestly isn’t much.
Ready Or Not Reveals What Has Been Censored
In a post onSteam, Void Interactive noted that it “recently shared that Ready or Not’s PC version underwent minor content changes to support stability and align with policies enforced by global platforms and age rating bodies. These adjustments were made to ensure a smooth global launch across platforms — while fully preserving the game’s tone, themes, and intensity.
“Unfortunately, we’ve seen misconceptions and misinformation circulating around the scope of these changes. We want to ensure our entire community has full visibility into what has — and has not — changed.”
The six instances which have been changed are as follows:
As you can see, there are six specific cases of ‘censoring’ that Void Interactive has agreed to for Ready or Not, and two of them are related to minors. The others, which are related to nudity, have likely been censored due to the graphic nature of the scene rather than them being of a sexual nature.
Regardless, the community is still against this censorship, with comments saying things like, “It’s not about the specifics, it’s a matter of principle. Any amount of censorship is too much,” and “Any censorship is precedent for more censorship in the future. Do not believe the devs.”
