TheReady or Notcommunity has lost all faith in Void Interactive. The game attracted controversy even before launch, with publisherTeam 17 pulling out due to a school shooting mission. However, for the console launch, thedevelopers decided to censor a bit of content, whichdidn’t go down well with fansas it affected the PC version as well.
In a bid to calm things down, Void Interactive put out adetailed statement of exactly what instances have been censored. But now that the console version has launched, it seems the developers have censored way more than what was previously stated. The community is now accusing the developer of lying.
Ready Or Not Community Thinks The Game Is Done After Console Launch
Players have been noting a lot more censoring than what Void had earlier revealed. While the statement mentioned six instances, there appear to be a lot more.
“Oh, they changed Valley of the Dolls and didn’t say anything,” notedZillaStudioson Reddit. “Before, I could understand the censors. Get rid of nudity? Yea alright makes sense, didn’t really want someone walking in on that anyway. Gore? A little iffy but whatever. A few images in 23 metabytes? I get why. But this? This is just downright unacceptable. This is THE moment of the game. Now it’s watered down dolls. They didn’t even say they did this! They said the other stuff was all they did! Heck there’s even less bodies in Neon Tomb!
Another post,by Old_Cellist7569, has compared side-by-side images of shot up corpses to show that the post-console version has dialed down the gore.
However, that’s not all. Not only has the developer censored more content than what was promised, but the update has pretty much broken the game. Asstephaniee-points out, “I don’t know about y’all, but personally this game doesn’t feel the same as it did.
I tolerated every update that messed up some stuff, because I loved the core gameplay too much to give up on it. I tolerated the game getting worse and worse as the time went on, because it still felt like “Ready or Not”. I think this update takes the cake though. We were promised minor censorship that “we wouldn’t even notice”
Among their complaints were, dumbed down bot AI, downgraded graphics, visual and gameplay glitches, and of course, the censored gore. Heading over to theReady or Not subredditwill reveal a lot more complaints like these.
