Despite thebacklash and reviewbombing over the censorship issues,Ready or Nothas been doing great in terms of player count. Earlier today we reported that the gamesold more than one million console copies in four days. It seems that there’s a massive divide between the PC and console players.

However, that doesn’t mean that players still aren’t annoyed at Void Interactive. After initially revealing that only a handful of instances will be censored, players noticed thata lot more had changed, while the quality also dropped massively. Now it seems that players are noticing the use of generative AI without any declaration on Steam.

Ready Or Not Players Aren’t Upset About AI, But Void Isn’t Even Doing That Properly

As spotted byGame Pressure, a Reddit post byIll-Consideration632has pointed out that a lot of the game’s background assets, like posters and signs, evidently look AI-generated. “Nice AI imagery. Waifu has two sets of eyebrows,” they noted. The image reveals a poster of an anime girl from one of the levels, and she does, in fact, have two sets of eyebrows.

While most video game fan bases would be annoyed at the fact that their game has used generative AI without disclosing it on Steam, most Ready or Not fans don’t care. What theyareannoyed about is the fact that Void Interactive isn’t even paying attention to obvious mistakes on top of all the other issues.

“Considering how little content the game actually has without mods, even the AI is lazy. What the hell has it been doing for the last, what, 3 years?” asked one comment. “Using every cent of development on a badly implemented console port that broke major parts of the game for all previous buyers, obviously,” replied another.

“I think it speaks more to their level of care,” said another player. “They used AI to generate a pretty generic waifu thing they could have paid an artist a pittance to make, and didn’t take five minutes to be like “yeah this is shit, generate a new one” like i don’t know if it’s laziness, incompetence or just utter disinterest in their work. I don’t know what’s worse.”
