This console generation might go down as one of the toughest for consumers. Constant hardware and software price increases mean that it’s now more expensive to get set up with aPS5orXbox Series X/Sthan it was in 2020, and the subscription services offered by both sides are no exception to this.

PlayStation Plus was hit with a price change in 2023, with the annual price of the most expensive Premium tier going from $119.99 to $159.99. Now, the original price of Premium won’t even get you the next tier down, Extra, as that is $134.99.

Despite price changes like this always being controversial with fans, many have simply got on with it and paid the extra cost. This was spotted byVGC, with Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hideaki Nishino giving us an update on membership figures during a discussion directed at investors.

We Might Not Like Price Increases, But PS Plus' Most Expensive Tier Is Doing Just Fine

With this in mind, it certainly doesn’t seem that PlayStation will hesitate when it comes to further price hikes on its products. With PS Plus, we can now see that many with suck it up. We’ll just have to see if the line is drawn somewhere eventually.
