Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Armyis a modern recreation of one of the more iconic of the Devil Summoner games that branched off from theoriginal Megami Tensei titlesand gave us plenty of series we still know and love today. In June 2025, Raidou joins the league of modern-console remasters.
If you played Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, you’ll feel right at home with these upgrades from the original title. If you’re a newcomer to the world of Devil Summoner, though, we’ve got a few tips below.
Visit The Goumaden Often
Register Your Demons (Multiple Times)
In the first case you’ll play through in Raidou Remastered, you’ll learn how to confine new demons to use in the series of battles you face ahead. Dark Tsukudo-cho is rife with creatures looking to fight, but Raidou can approach and attempt to contain, capturing and training new demons regularly. Even at beginner levels, these demons will become critical for fusions later on.
After you’ve returned from Dark Tsukudo-cho for the first time, Gouto will highlight several new features that have begun to appear back in the regular world. You’ll find new optional case files you can take on in exchange for rewards and EXP, Aril Rifts containing waves of powerful demons, and an invitation tovisit the Goumadenfor the first time.
You’ll find the Goumadeninside Konnou-yawhen you’re wandering through Tsukudo-cho in the regular world, but you’ll be able to visit viaDragon’s Fountlocations while exploring the dark world, too. Here, you’ll meetVictor, a mad scientist focusing on fusing the most powerful demons for you.
Throughout the game, you’ll be working to register new demons in your Demon Chart, a compendium of all the creatures you’re able to summon.Register new demons before fusing them, or you’ll risk losing access to them until you backtrack and capture them again!
You cannot confine new demons if Raidou’s tubes are full, so log demons often and be prepared to release any you don’t need between fights, especially when entering new areas that often have new, unfamiliar demons you may confine for free so long as Raidou’s current level matches or exceed’s said demon’s.
As you become more comfortable with fusions in Raidou Remastered, you’ll be able to make good use of theSpecial Demon Chart, an advanced registration option that allows you toregister different versions of certain demons. You’ll only have so many slots in this chart, but Victor will happily sell you a few upgrades in exchange for some yen.
Listen For Tips From The Game Itself
Gouto And Your Demons Will Provide Hints
The combat in Raidou Remasteredis smooth once you get the hang of it, but there’s quite a lot to learn right off the bat if you’ve not played the previous Devil Summoner games! If you’re coming into Raidou from more turn-based Atlus titles, you may be surprised by the non-stop action happening on screen and consistent need to micromanage your stats and demons throughout.
In the first chapter of the game, you’ll be receiving plenty of tutorials, and you cancheck your Detective Journalat any point to remind yourself of the game’s controls, your current objectives, and plenty of other important stuff you’ll need to remember. That said, throughout the game, you’ll want tolisten for hints during battle.
Not only will Gouto-Doji, your faithful feline companion, talk you through main story progression, butGouto gives you hints on how to turn battles in your favor. you’re able to still analyze enemies yourself, but if you’re up against something new or just can’t recall, Gouto will chime in every now and again with hints.
Additionally, your demons speak upduring combat, which is critical information as you learn to manage multiple demons. They’ll talk a lot of crap, sure, but they’ll also shout out when they need healing or have stunned a demon without you taking advantage of the situation.
Balance Damage With MAG Restoration
Conserve MAG Where You Can And Replenish It Often
You’ll discover plenty of ways to improve your pool of MAG, the green bar at the bottom of your combat screen that allows your demons to use their skills in battle, butmanaging your MAG use is important. It remains so throughout the game, but in the early chapters when your total MAG is lower, you’ll want to learn to conserve where you can.
When you’re in battle and hit an enemy’s weakness to stun them, you canreplenish MAG with weak sword attacks on stunned enemies. You’ll also master theDevil’s Baneattack before long, so keep an eye and ear out for Gouto telling you it’s time to use it to restore a huge amount of MAG.
That said, you can also use the moments in which enemies are stunned toinflict heavier damage to stunned enemies with heavy attacks. You’ll deal 150 percent damage to stunned demons when using Raidous’ heavier sword attack to follow up, at the cost of not using this demon to replenish your MAG without needing to expend a MAG-replenishing item.
Fuse Healing Magic Onto Offensive Demons
They’ll Pause The Battle To Heal When Necessary
Though you can replenish HP for Raidou and his demons between battles using items and skills from the main menu screen, it’s helpful tokeep demons with healing magicat the ready when approaching new battles. You’ll find plenty of Skill Order demons who can perform skills like HP replenishment, stat boosts or enemy stat debuffs, and more.
That said, if you’re looking to hybridize a bit, you can alwaysfuse healing magic onto new demonswhen visiting the Goumaden. They’ll still stay on the offensive for the most part when you have them configured to appear with you in battle, but they’re also able tooffer healing support when needed.
Not only is this helpful in battle, but as you fuse progressively more powerful demons and level up their skills, you may not want to spend one of your limited configuration spots on a purely supportive demon, with so many tough fights ahead.
Keep A Pyro And Skill Demon At All Times
You’ll Need Them For Investigations
Even regular investigations take quite a lot of work, butyou’re Raidou Kuzunoha, the Devil Summoner, and you’ve got plenty of supernatural tricks up your sleeve to offer an otherworldly advantage. It’s not long into the first case that you’ll learn aboutpassive skillsyour demons either have innately or obtain via fusion.
There are plenty of helpful investigative skills you can ask your demons to help with, such as flying to reach new heights and collecting items Raidou can’t reach, occasionally picking up loose items while walking around, and so much more.
That said, you’ll want to be sure youalways have demons of the Pyro and Skill Ordersin your tubes before heading out to progress the story. There are plenty of times you’ll need to:
It’s always a good idea to keep a spread of different Orders in your party so you’ve got access to all kinds of damage and support types, but in general, don’t leave without Pyro and Skill Order demons in at least two of your tubes.
Get To Know Your Demons
They’ll Find Items And Grow More Loyal Through Battles
Filling the Devil Chart in the Goumaden is a critical part of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, and we’ve already highlighted the importance of keeping a spread of different Orders on you, but you’ll find plenty of ways tointeract with your demonsthroughout the course of the game.
Any demon following Raidou around in the overworld is able togo on solo investigationsaround the current level, which often provides access to areas Raidou is banned from entering or a supernatural extra sense that can help you find hidden puzzles or loot. You’ll want toknow your demons’ passive skillsand use them often to get a leg up in the investigation.
You’ll also notice theloyalty meterin every demon’s stat page. This meter is increased as youkeep this demon in the partyand use them to successfully fight your battles. When loyalty maxes out, you’ll receive a pep talk and a gift from your demon.
Capturing multiple demons in different tubes will require them to individually max their loyalty meters. If you’re only using them for fusion, this isn’t quite as important, but it’s still a helpful way to score free items.
Periodically, you’ll notice that demons might havespeech bubbles next to their portraitson your menu screens. When this happens, go into the main menu and selectDemon Check-In. This gives Raidou a chance to chat with the aforementioned demon, who often provides free items like HP or MAG restoration gear, skill books, and more.
Finally, when you move to confine demons during battles, you’ll notice that demons will occasionallyask Raidou a question before being confinedto the tubes, and each demon responds differently to the different responses. Choosing good responses to these questions when they occur can provide aloyalty boost.
