Summary

FromSoftwareis known for its brutally challenging titles with brutal boss encounters that range from thesomber Great Grey Wolf Sif to the enchantingly devastating Malenia fightthat will have you wanting to quit gaming forever on your 20th attempt. But we keep coming back for more because we love every second of it.

But which one of these excellent titles is the hardest to do everything there is to do in them? Some are tremendously challenging via the gameplay aspects, while others will force you to grind countless hours away for a few items, which will drive anyone mad. While we love these games dearly, some of their Trophies seem mean!

Despite being the game that put FromSoftware on the map and branded as the most challenging game, the firstDark Soulsisn’t all that complicated to do everything in. And that’s including the expansion. Don’t get us wrong, the boss encounters can be very tough, but that’s nothing compared to the titles that would come after it.

You’re looking at around three playthroughs total to do everything there is to do in Dark Souls, but the beauty of this game is that you can start to feel a bit broken on subsequent playthroughs, with only the DLC bosses offering a real challenge. Nonetheless, outside of t

Elden Ringis also another surprisingly easy and straightforward title to do everything in, with the only drawback being that it will require hundreds of hours to do so. Well, at least your first playthrough will. If you’re going from a Trophy/Achievement standpoint, you must beat the game three times. If you want to see every ending in the game, then that doubles to six.

Again, this is far more time-consuming than it is difficult, as your only real challenge will be against Malenia and a few others that can trip you up for a prolonged period. Still, compared to some of the other ones, it’s not so bad!

While theDemon’s Souls Remakeis far easier to 100 percent compared to the 2009 version (we’ll get to that later), it can still be tricky to players who have never played it before or jumped into the series for the first time,as the World Tendency gimmick can, and will, cause many headaches.

Not only do you NEED to have a Pure White and Pure Black World Tendency playthrough to access different areas for key items, but you must also get at least one kill by invading another player, which will become harder and harder to do as the game’s population fades away. It’s not impossible, but it’s not exactly what we’d call easy either!

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sinis our next entry, offering another exceptionally long experience that you must dedicate two and a half playthroughs to if you want to see and do everything it offers. Even then, what you determine as 100 percent completed may vary.

If it’s just your Trophy/Achievement progress, then this is really only time-consuming, like the others. However, if you want to obtain every item, then its ranking is likely more toward the top, as there are Rings tied to beating the game without resting at Bonfires or without dying a single time.

We placed it here as most players prioritize Trophies/Achievements as the ‘fully completed the game’ indicator, but you can go further beyond if you so wish!

Bloodborneis where things get interesting, as the game isn’t necessarily as convoluted as the others listed so far, but it is the most difficult, placing it much higher on the list. Overall, the Trophies are pretty straightforward to obtain, in theory, but that’s until you have to interact with the Chalice Dungeons. Joy!

Tracking down the necessary materials, completing them in the preferred order, and getting manhandled by Amygdala in the Defiled Chalice Dungeon are what make this one so frustrating to complete. Not to mention, the Old Hunters expansion also has Trophies of its own, which are a whole new level of difficulty. Bloodborne is near the top of the list, no questions asked!

‘Demon’s Souls remake is the same game as the original, why is this one so much higher?’ you may ask yourself if your first experience with this game was Bluepoint’s excellent remake. While that is true to an extent, the Trophy list is entirely different, as they have removed the ones based around weapon upgrades, making it much more manageable.

In the original 2009 version of Demon’s Souls, you essentially lived in the Ritual Path and farmed the Black Skeletons in the area for the scarce chance of them dropping a Pure Bladestone. And, if you didn’t know about the duplication glitch, you would do that for hours on end until you got enough for all the upgrades needed for the Trophy. Then there’s all the World Tendency stuff on top of that!

Speaking of tedious grinding, nothing can quite compare toDark Souls 3’s Convenants and how some of them are pretty much impossible to get now via Online play due to the small player pool, meaning you must farm them from enemies. Yes, most of them have extremely low drop rates. Because of course they do.

Even though farming Vertebra Shackles and Wolf’s Blood Swordgrass can take forever, nothing quite compares to the mind-numbingness that comes fromfarming the two Silver Knights on the Anor Londor staircasefor the ultra-rare Proof of a Concord Kept drop. It will likely take you a few days to get the ten needed, and that’s on a good streak.

The game is also very challenging and features two expansions, each with some of the most brutally difficult boss encounters you could ask for. Dark Souls 3 is easily one of the hardest of the bunch to fully complete!

Lastly, we haveSekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which may be a somewhat controversial pick for the number one spot. Although it is not nearly as time-consuming as the others, nor does it require astronomical levels of farming to accomplish everything, it is by far the most challenging to see and do everything from a pure gameplay perspective.

Sekiro has our favorite combat system in any game.Period. But it’s also the most challenging of the bunch as well, and forces you to play a rhythm game, mixed in with the tremendously brutal and devastating boss encounters you’d expect from FromSoftware. This game will push you to your limits and then some.

And that’s not even covering the other bosses that will make you want to cry after hours of barely any progress. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the clear winner to us!
