Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’sWisdom of Sea and Sky expansion has been marred with controversy. Yesterday, after the cards were datamined, it became apparent that at least one, the Ho-Oh ex immersive rare, had been copied from fan art, leading DeNA and The Pokemon Company to issue an apology, pulling the card and replacing it with a placeholder in the process.

Despite this, the game moved ahead, releasing itsJohto-themed set, much to the delight of fans. The delight didn’t stop there either, with some packs in the new expansion having the possibility of containing six cards.

Up to Wisdom of Sea and Sky, every Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket booster pack contained five cards. That changed with the new expansion, though, as players now have the chance to open what the game calls a “Regular pack + 1 card”.

These packs have around an eight percent chance of appearing, with the first five cards having regular odds, and the sixth guaranteed to contain one of the game’s brand-new baby Pokemon.

In the Wisdom of Sea and Sky Lugia booster packs, the sixth slot has a 12.9 percent chance of containing a one-star Pichu special art card, or a 29 percent chance of containing a Pichu, Elekid, or Cleffa three-diamond holo card. The Ho-Oh pack offers similar rates, just with different cards. If you’re lucky enough to get a Regular pack + 1 card, you’ll have a 12.9 percent chance of pulling a Magby one-star card, and a 29 percent chance of a Magby, Smoochum, or Tyrogue holo.

With the expansion adding upwards of 240 cards, this bonus card offers players the opportunity to complete the expansion faster, at least until they have all eight of the Baby Pokemon on offer. This volume of new cards also means that the game’s competitive meta is set for another major shift.

Before its release, players anticipated cards like Ho-Oh and Cleffa having an impact on the meta, but as more cards have been revealed, that seems less likely. Instead, Pokemon like Xatu, Crobat, and Trainers like Will and Squirt Bottle could be about to change things for good.
