There are few absolutes in life, but three things are certain: death, taxes, and a newPokemon Trading Card Game Pocketexpansion dropping every month. The game started withGenetic Apex, and in the seven months following that, we’ve hadMythical Island,Space-Time Smackdown,Triumphant Light,Shining Revelry,Celestial Guardians,Extradimensional Crisis, and yesterday,Eevee Grove.
However, while Eevee Grove is still new and fresh for most, as it should be, attention for some has already shifted to the next set, which has had its release date revealed ahead of time, alongside some of the reported new changes to the trading system.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Next Expansion Reportedly Due For Release On July 30
According toCentro Leaks, a reliable insider in the Pokemon world, on Twitter, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s next expansion will be releasing on July 30. This comes as no surprise, given DeNA’s penchant for a new set every month, and the fact that they all tend to release during the middle of the week, but it’s a good one to mark in your calendars and start saving those Pack Hourglasses for.
Interestingly, Centro Leaks reports that this new set will be designated A4 and will be a “main expansion,” similar to Genetic Apex, Space-Time Smackdown, and Celestial Guardians, as opposed to a “themed booster pack,” such as those in between.
The new A4 expansion isn’t the only thing coming to the game next month, though. It’s been reported that the long-overdue changes to Pokemon TCG Pocket’strading systemwill be coming next month, with a massive overhaul.
Within days of trading launching in TCG Pocket, player complaints had become so much that DeNA vowed it was “actively looking into ways to improve things”. Despitewarnings that accounts would be bannedif players sold cards for real-world money, some risked it all for profit. Coupled with the extortionate trade costs, new trade-specific items, and limits on tradable cards, the system didn’t go down well.
According to a post onReddit, information on the new trade requirements have been datamined following the Eevee grove update. The changes are set to kick in on July 29, and will look something like this:
These changes to trading will also coincide withchanges to Ranked Battles. Soon, players will earn a consecutive win bonus in Ultra Ball and Master Ball ranks, and in the following season, players won’t be able to drop below their existing tier. It looks like the game’s creators are really taking feedback on board.
