ThePokemon TCG Pocketgrind rolled on this week as the game’s newest booster pack, Eevee Grove has arrived. An extension of Pokemon’s celebration of the Year of Eevee, and there’s a shiny new card in there that’s an homage to one of the most wanted cards in the real Pokemon TCG’s history.
Since Pocket’s new booster pack is Eevee-themed, it also includes cards dedicated to all eight of Eevee’s evolved forms. Among them is a one-star Umbreon card with some pretty stunning artwork. The Dark-type Eeveelution is looking back at the trainer over their shoulder, out at night standing on a moonlit street.

If you haven’t already guessed, the card is an homage to thePokemon TCG’s famed Moonbreon card. A part of 2021’s Evolving Skies, the artwork in the original Moonbreon card shows the Umbreon tentatively perched on a tower, trying to reach up and touch the moon.The value of the VMAX Moonbreon has been on a gradual ascentsince its release, peaking at almost $1,400 earlier this year.
That value won’t be reflected in the Pocket version of Moonbreon, of course. We haven’t reached a point yet where the virtual cards are being exchanged for real-life cash, and I hope we never do. Like some of the other cards that have been added to Pocket since its very successful launch at the end of 2024, the new Umbreon card is aiming to replicate the want there is for the Moonbreon card.
It’s not the first time Pokemon has attempted to do something like this with Moonbreon either.An Umbreon card from Prismatic Evolutionsthat puts a terrastilized Umbreon in front of a full moon caused quite a stir when the new expansion dropped a few months ago. So much so that, at first, the card was valued at $1,700, a higher peak than the original Moonbreon has ever managed to hit. Its value has dropped since then, but not by much, as the Prismatic Umbreon card is still worth more than $1,000.
