Summary

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’slatest expansion,Celestial Guardians, has already set the cat among the pigeons from a competitive perspective, and players are still getting to grips with all 239 new cards. Rare Candyarguably forced the scene into its biggest shake-up, giving Stage 2 ex cards a chance to shine, but a new, seemingly innocuous card came andeffectively ended the two ex/18 Trainer meta.

24 hours after its release, another Trainer Card has been stirring things up, as players have discovered it has the ability to knock out Pokemon, and effectively win games, without actually attacking.

Guzma’s Sneaky Ability Can Win You Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Matches

Much like Oricorio, Guzma doesn’t seem likethe best Celestial Guardians cardon paper. The supporter has the ability to discard all Pokemon tools attached to each of the opponent’s Pokemon. It’s good, but it seems like nothing more than a card meant to inconvenience the opposition. However, if used at the right time, Guzma can actually become a KO machine.

Giant Cape is a tool introduced inSpace-Time Smackdownthat gives any Pokemon it’s attached to an additional 20 HP. If your opponent’s Pokemon is down to its final 20 HP when you play Guzma, the supporter will remove the cape, KOing the Pokemon. If you only need one point to take the game, Guzma can be your match winner.

It adds a whole new layer of complexity to thePokemon TCG Pocket meta, with a card effectively dealing damage straight out of your hand. It can, in the right circumstances, be used similarly to cards like Greninja, KOing the opponent’s Active Pokemon, forcing them to switch in something fresh, only for you to use your Active Pokemon to attack it.

Clearly, it’s a very situational card and is reliant on your opposition using a Giant Cape, but much like his in-game character, Guzma can be a real menace.
