The dreadedPokemonSuper Kaizo Ironmon, claimed to be the hardest Pokemon challenge till date, has officially been beaten after over a year and more than 100,000 collective attempts by the community. The challenge was finally overcome by streamer Reimi during his 8,502nd attempt.
For those that aren’t aware,Super Kaizo Ironmonis a ruleset challenge that has some ridiculous restrictions that even pros would struggle with. It’s a tougher variant of the Super Kaizo challenge, which was a tough ruleset on its own. Once people started beating the base level challenge, the creators unveiled the Super Kaizo Ironman.
Reimi Beats The Pokemon Super Kaizo Ironman Challenge
As explained byGamesRadar+, on top of randomizing the run, buffing trainers and rival Pokemon, and restricting you to only one ‘Mon, the Super Kaizo Ironman challenge adds a lot more. Firstly, you have to take your random pick from Oak, and can only change your Pokemon in the middle of the game.
In the case of FireRed and LeafGreen, it can only be done in the Safari Zone. However, each game has a specific point at which you’re allowed to change your Pokemon. Even the creator of the Ruleset has warned that the Super Kaizo Ironman is not for everyone, but only the most dedicated and skilled players.
Reimi’s winning run came thanks to a Crobat, which was described as “a monster […] with stats/moves nearly handpicked to do it.” Despite that, it was a narrow win for the streamer, with the last two Pokemon forcing him to use a Full Restore. They also got pretty lucky with the RNG, so it wasn’t just a test of skill.
It seems even Reimi wasn’t sure of ever beating the challenge, even after 8,502 attempts. Talking about how hard the victory was, he said, “there’s a reason why every time people ask me ‘can this do it?’ I’m like, ‘I dunno, man’ […] I legitimately thought we’d be playing this for years.”
