Summary
Video games, trading cards, plushes, there are a lot of ways to catch ‘em all inPokemon. That hasn’t stopped The Pokemon Company from trying to create even more, and thanks to Funko’s new line of collectibles, it might have just discovered a new way to do so.
That new way is Bitty Pops. Bitty Pops are still a relatively new phenomenon with Funko not releasing its first tiny replicas of its full-sized figures until 2023. Even then, it appears to have been testing the waters before diving in as it has taken an additional two years for some of Funko’s bigger partners to jump on the bandwagon.
Starting right now, Pokemon is very much on that bandwagon. Countless Pokemon have been given theFunko Poptreatment over the years, and of those Pokemon, 16 have been selected for Bitty Pop duty. As you probably will have guessed as it’s almost always the case when it comes to new Pokemon merch, every single one of those 16 Pokemon is from the series’ original roster of 151.
Pokemon’s First Bitty Pops Are Finally Here
The Tiniest And Most Adorable Way To Catch ‘Em All To Date
Just to lean into the Kanto love even more, and playing it safe by trying to appeal to as many Pokemon fans as possible, each of the four debut sets is led by the region’s, and therefore the series’, best-known Pokemon -Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. The three partner Pokemon you need to choose between in the original games, and Pikachu who’s your partner in Pokemon Yellow and Ash’s partner in the anime.
You can find images of all four sets, and therefore confirm which Pokemon will be included in each, above. There appears to be a key difference between Pokemon’s first Bitty Pop sets and a feature of other Bitty Pop packs up until this point. The rare chase figures that are saved for the fourth spot in every pack have been scrapped.
Pokemon Funko Bitty Pop! Mini-Figure 4-Pack
Pokemon has been welcomed into the world of Funko Bitty Pops. Kicking off the collection are four four-packs, each of them headlined by a Kanto icon. Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander’s packs each come with three other Bitty Pop Pokemon, and all 16 in the collection so far were a part of the original 151.
One of the selling points of Bitty Pops until now has been the chase figure in each pack. Each set would have four rarer figures to collect with no way of knowing which one was in any given pack until you opened it. Funko has foregone that short-lived tradition and has just shown all four figures in each set, and there will seemingly be no differences between them. The four Pokemon you see in each set will be the four Pokemon you get.
The rare rotating Pops method doesn’t appear to have been left behind in other fandoms as the Spider-Man packs detailed below still include them.
The Bitty Pop train is really starting to pick up speed now that Funko has decided the spinoff range is going to be a mainstay. Pokemon’s debut Bitty Pops follow in the footsteps ofthe first Spider-Man sets that were exclusively revealed by TheGamerlast week.
