It feels like the rumor mill has been working overtime over the last few years. Dozens of games have had details leaked, or at least rumored, to varying degrees of success. Arguably, the most high-profile wasThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, andthe leaks leading up to its release, but unreleased titles likeBattlefield 6, theAssassin’s Creed Shadows DLC, andHalf-Life 3have all seen reliable information in the wild. Eventhe Fallout TV showhas seen set shots reach the public consciousness ahead of the release of Season 2.
One game, which has beenrumored for what feels like an eternity now, but seems no closer to fruitionthan it did years ago, is thePokemon Black and WhiteRemakes. That’s not stopped The Pokemon Company from teasing fans, though, the latest tease of which comes less than two weeks beforethe next Pokemon Presents showcase.
The Pokemon Company Has Once Again Mentioned Pokemon Black And White
Over on Twitter, the official Pokemon account hasjust asked fanswhat their favorite moments were from the Black and White series of games. It’s unusual timing, given the upcoming Pokemon Presents, which airs on July 22, and the rumors that have beenswirling around remakes of the games for years now, but it wouldn’t be the first time the company has tweeted something just for the sake of tweeting it.
Naturally, the Pokemon community has been perfectly normal about this tweet, with nobody overreacting, believing it’s a tease for Gen 5 remakes…
While some fans genuinely shared their favorite Black and White experiences, others were quick to sound the remake alarms. “BLACK AND WHITE REMAKES INCOMING,“said one Twitter user. “Sounds like a big announcement is coming soon,“said another.
Given the upcomingPokemon Trading Card Game sets,Black Bolt and White Flare, and the imminent Pokemon Presents, it feels like optimism is at an all-time high.
At this point, we’ve had remakes of the first four Pokemon generations.Red, Blue, and Greenhave had FireRed and LeafGreen, as well as theLet’s Gogames.Gold and Silvergot HeartGold and SoulSilver (the best Pokemon games ever made).Ruby and Sapphirereceived Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. And just a few years ago, we got Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, remakes ofDiamond and Pearl. It seems natural, now, that fifth-generation remakes are next in line for The Pokemon Company. But if they don’t appear during the upcoming Pokemon Presents, you have to wonder if they ever will.
