Pokemon revealed an all-new game, Pokemon Champions earlier this year, but didn’t really tell us much about it. The reveal trailer just showed people battling theirPokemonon various platforms over the years. We now know a little more about Champions as the game was shown off in more detail during today’s Pokemon Presents.
A lot of new information about Champions was revealed, including compatibility withPokemon Home, which means you’ll be able to transfer and use Pokemon from other games in Champions. You will also be able to recruit Pokemon in-game and use them to battle one-on-one or in two-on-two battles. Plus, you can train your Pokemon to improve their stats and teach them new moves.
The good news is we finally have a release window for Pokemon Champions. The bad news is we’re going to be waiting longer than you might have expected. The new trailer ended with a coming in 2026 message, which means we’ve got at least six months to wait until we get the chance to play it, probably longer.
We’ve been shown our best look at Pokemon Champions yet
Unfortunately, it’s going to be a while before we actually get the chance to play it
The main series of Pokemon games will march on this October, of course, viaPokemon Legends: Z-A. However, there are always spinoff games in development at the same time, particularly ones you can play on mobile, like Pokemon Champions. The new way it will give fans to catch, collect, and battle Pokemon could make it the next big hit for The Pokemon Company, not to mention the impact it will almost certainly have on what’s the focus of the Pokemon Video Game Championships in the years to come.
Elsewhere in today’s Pokemon Presents, we were given the usual updates on the likes ofPokemon GoandPokemon Unite, but the focus was on Legends: Z-A, which, with only three months left to go, makes a lot of sense. It’s been a longer gap than usual between flagship Pokemon games. Between that and the disappointment many fans were left feeling followingScarlet & Violet’s performance, there’s a lot of pressure on Legends: Z-A to remind Pokemon fans what exactlyGame Freakis capable of.
