Summary

ThePokemon TCG’s Destined Rivals expansion is here, but you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Pretty much everything in the new set is as unavailable now as it was during its pre-order period. There’s a slim silver lining, though - one of its cards is being given away for free via the Pokemon Center’s latest promo.

If you head tothe Pokemon Center websiteright now, you’ll be met with a banner informing you that if you buy the right items, andthose items come to a total of $15 or more, a Team Rocket Tyranitar card from Destined Rivals will be thrown in for no additional charge. An exclusive card that you can’t get anywhere else as unlike the regular version, this one has the Pokemon Center logo printed on it.

That might be a con rather than a pro for some people, but hey, it’s a free card.

Other than the $15 threshold, the caveat for qualifying for the card is a little more confusing than it usually is for promos like these, at least on the surface. The small print dictates thatyou need to buy items from the Pokemon Center’s Team Rocket Tyranitar category. Thankfully, all you need to do to see what’s included in that category is click the banner.

How Else Are You Going To Get Anything From Destined Rivals?

There are a lot of things to choose from two with more than 150 items selected for Team Rocket Tyranitar duty. It’s a real mix of stuff, too, and not much of it appears to be tied to Team Rocket or Tyranitar, necessarily, although the sweatshirt from the still relatively new Team Rocket collection is in there. There’s also Porygon’s Soda Pop plush, a three-pack of Wobbuffet socks, and a 65-pack of Tyrunt card sleeves. Like I said, a real mix of stuff to choose from.

With Destined Rivals items still sold out everywhere, this is one of the only ways to get a card from the new expansion, and, in theory, you have until June 23, 2025, to claim it. I wouldn’t wait that long if you want one, though. The small print also notes that the card is only available while stocks last, and previous giveaways suggest the card will have sold out long before we reach that June 30 deadline.

Pokemon continues to try and make its TCG drops better, but things only seem to be getting worse. Products from the TCG have never been in such high demand, and every time pre-orders for a new set go live,it takes a matter of minutes for them to sell out and start showing up for inflated prices on resale sites.
