Persona 5: The Phantom Xplayers are already obsessed with one of the game’s antagonists, Takeyuki Kiuchi, also known as the Subway Slammer.

Well, it took more than a year, butPersona 5: The Phantom X finally released worldwideearlier this week, and it’s a massive hit with players already, especially on Steam. While the gacha mechanics are about as divisive as you’d expect, most Persona players seem to just be happy for something new in the series to play.

It’s still early days for Persona 5: The Phantom X, but that hasn’t stopped Atlus fans from all connectingthanks to a shared love for one of the game’s most bizarre characters. Persona 5 gave us some very memorable and well-written villains, while The Phantom X instead gives us a baddie known for bumping into people.

Look At Him, Slammin' All Over The Place

If you’ve played Persona 5: The Phantom X,you’ve probably come across its first real villain - Takeyuki Kiuchi. Kiuchi, a former baseball player who now looks like an ordinary businessman, appears early on in the game and gains a reputation for bumping into women in subway stations. Hence the name “Subway Slammer”.

That’s right, The Phantom X’s first evil villain is just someone who knocks into people on the subway. It’s quite a change from the pure evil that was Kamoshida in Persona 5,and Atlus fans have already taken notice of just how weird the whole thingis from a series that generally goes pretty far with its layered villains.

Since The Phantom X launched a few days ago,my social media has been absolutely stuffed with memes making fun of the Subway Slammer. Twitter user SMTDrifterII shared a video of the Subway Slammerjoking that “OG Persona 5” can’t competewith a guy who just likes to ram into random people.

There is a little bit more to Kiuchi’s character thanjustslamming into people, butthat hasn’t stopped him from becoming the Morbius of the Persona universe.

Other Subway Slammer memes are hailing him as the best villain in Atlus' long history, withmy favourite coming from Twitter user raharuburneracc and the Persona villain group meeting they imagined. There are so many memes of Subway Slammer that it’s hard to know where to begin, but he’s clearly making an impact on Persona fans. It’s just maybe not how Atlus imagined.
