Yuri Lownthal, who played Yosuke in the original Persona 4, took to Bluesky to share what they assumed to be strictly disappointing news. “For those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,” Lowenthal’s post reads. “I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.”
That will be disappointing to hear for a lot of Persona fans, of course, as many would have loved to see Lowenthal back playing the role of Yosuke for the remake. However, the incredibly thick silver lining is that, in revealing he begged Atlus to bring him back for the remake, Lowenthal has inadvertently given the world the most concrete evidence yet that it exists.

Some have joked in the replies to the post - which is rather surprisingly still up at the time of typing this - that Lowenthal is so upset at seemingly being recast, he has reacted by revealing the remake is real before Atlus had the chance. The more likely scenario is that Lowenthal has seen all of the same hints and rumors we have and assumed that the Persona 4 remake had already been revealed, and therefore, he was safe to share his attempts to return to the series with the rest of the world.
Lowenthal not being asked back for the remake likely won’t surprise fans of the Persona series. Atlus went with new actors for Persona 3 Reload, so it was always likely that Persona 4 would get the same treatment once its time to be remade arrived. A disappointing decision, but not one that seemed to affect the popularity or critical acclaim of Persona 3 Reload.
Until now, the remake rumors were built ona Persona 4 domain namesimilar to the one used ahead ofPersona 3 Reload’s reveal, anda musician recording tracks for a new Atlus projectin the same studio used for previous Persona projects.
