Marvel Rivalsis in trouble, as fans arevery unhappy with the state of the game right now. Whether it’s the meta orhow competitive mode works- orall those bot matches we get in quick play- there’s a lot to complain about. Now, NetEase has given us another reason.

It turns out that the leaks were accurate, andBlade is going to be a Duelist. The long-awaited character is joining the roster halfway through the current season, following on from Phoenix, who was added recently. This means Season 3 will give us two Duelists, despite the fact that this was already the most stacked class in the game.

Marvel Rivals Is Giving Us Two Duelists In Season 3, And Fans Aren’t Happy

This comes after Blade being a Duelist was confirmed at San Diego Comic Con, after many fans had hoped that the leak was inaccurate.

“He should have been a Vanguard, or delayed in favour of one,” argues Reddit user Sword_of_Monsters. “Tanks feel like st and NetEase [is] only further fumbling it. The 3.5 patch better be fking good or this season will straight up have nothing for me.”

They continue, negatively comparing Marvel Rivals to its competitors. “Overwatch didn’t get this bad and its been out for a decade, it will only get worse, considering that the next two seasons will also have DPS’s in them.”

“I actually would’ve liked him being a tank, I would’ve found it more interesting,” says xemeraldwitchx. “I don’t particularly care to tank with the options we have. Perhaps adding more tanks to the roster would give people more interest in trying that role out.”

Many Vanguard players are sharing this sentiment, with some even consideringtaking the same action that Strategists did not too long ago. “If 3.5 doesn’t make a majority of the tanks viable and more fun, I am gonna go on a tanking strike until they do,” says endoverlord423.

Indeed, one of the most frustrating issues in Marvel Rivals right now is thatno one wants to play Vanguard. It’s easy enough to find at least two players to go Strategist, but then, everyone’s in a rush to play a damage-focused character, and that will only worsen when everyone wants to try out Blade.

Since Marvel Rivals launched, there have been seven new additions to the roster. Of these seven, three have been Duelists, with Vanguard and Strategists getting two new characters each. Considering Duelist already had the most characters, this has only exacerbated the problem, so hopefully, Vanguards will be next in line for a new hero.
