The officialOnimushaTwitter account (which is run byCapcom) has confirmed that Oyo’s special outfit has been censored in the Onimusha 2 remaster to “reduce skin exposure”.

It’s been a long time since Onimusha fans have had anything to be excited about, especially after the reportedlylacklustre sales of the first game’s remaster made the series' future look bleak. That changed over the past year and a bit, though, asCapcom confirmed that it’s not only working on a brand-new entry, but also releasing a long-awaited remaster of the second game later this month.

That remaster isn’t just a graphical upgrade of the original game, as it’s alsocoming with some new content, improved controls, and a number of quality of life improvements. Most of the changes seem to have been positively received so far, but there’s been one tweak that some fans weren’t so happy about - Oyo’s special outfit.

Capcom Has Explained Why It Changed Oyo’s Special Outfit In Onimusha 2’s Remaster

It’s Because Of “Skin Exposure”

For those that don’t know, in the original release of Onimusha 2, players could unlock a special outfit for both Jubei and Oyo by 100 percent completing the game. Oyo’s outfit was a strange combination of snake skin and fur that had a big opening in the middle exposing her waste and chest.

In a new trailer for the remaster that revealed the special outfits will be unlockable from the start of the game, fans noticed thatOyo’s costume has been censored by a black undershirt that has been added to the costume. It wasn’t clear if this was a trailer edit at first, but theofficial Onimusha Twitter has addressed the issue and explained it was done to “reduce skin exposure”.

That seems to confirm with certainty that the decision comes from Capcom wanting to make the outfit less revealing.Just like when Capcom removed Erotica from Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterandchanged parts of Resident Evil 4’s remake, fans aren’t happy about the change, calling it “unnecessary” for an M-rated game.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, some fans are even saying that they won’t be buying the game because of the change.
