Summary
When it comes to anime-based video games,One Piece, despite its massive popularity, pales in comparison to the likes ofDragon Ball ZandNaruto. Heck, even Hunter x Hunter is getting a fighting gamebefore One Piece, though it might be banned in Australia.
Arguably, the best One Piece game is a turn-based RPG from 2023or the Musou Pirate Warriors 4. However, in the latest example of blatant rip-offs meeting AI slop, there is not one, but two One Piece-themed games currently for sale on Nintendo’s eShop.
One Piece fans, Meet Pirate Anime Quest: One Boys' Journey, A Piece of Island Love
As first reported by Automaton, on the eShop,Pirate Anime Quest: One Boys' Journey, A Piece of Island LoveandPirate Anime Quest: One Girls' Journey, A Piece of Island Loveare both available for pre-order, and in a strange twist, are also heavily discounted, too.
Both games are basically identical, with one swapping men for women and vice versa. Either way, don’t expect to be using Devil Fruit powers or traveling to Dressrosa, as the game appears to be a Visual Novel that is focused on “provocative questions” in order to “unlock daring images and endings as fiery as they are unpredictable.”
In one gameplay image, the player character is shown letting a Luffy/Law/Ace amalgamation know whether they can “check your booty.” Another character screen has a character with Sanji’s curly eyebrows and blonde hair, Gol D. Roger’s jacket, Zoro’s earring and Luffy’s facial structure and chest scar.
Either way, it’s another blatant example of the seemingly low barrier to entry that exists in digital storefronts. Back in February,PlayStation made a concerted effort to remove AI spam titles, though it seems to be a rather futile effort. Be right back, going to go play as Roronoa D. Vinsmoke Roger.
