Summary

It looks like we’re going to be getting a newOne Piecegame in the near future, as the franchise’s official website has confirmed that a reveal is “coming soon”.

Although Luffy hasn’t seen quite the same non-stop gaming treatment as Naruto and Goku, One Piece still has more than its fair share of video games out there.World Seeker, Odyssey, and the fan-favourite Pirate Warriors games all come to mind, but it’s been a while since we’ve had anything new in the gaming space from the beloved franchise.

The most recent game was One Piece Odyssey, a turn-based RPG that released at the start of 2023 and that sadly didn’t make quite as much of an impact as you’d hope. While we are getting a port of Pirate Warriors 4 and some new DLC for the game later this yearto tide us over, it seems that there’s something more exciting on the horizon.

One Piece Is Getting A New Game In The Near Future

The Announcement Is “Coming Soon”

As pointed out by Twitter user ShonenGamesZ, the official One Piece day website recently went live and revealed all of the announcements and events that can be expected when the One Piece Day event takes place at Tokyo Big Sight on August 9 and 10. Easily the most interesting part of the website is a new section that simply says “Game”.

At the moment, there’s no information about the game,as the section simply shows a map that says “Coming Soon” on it, which is presumably referring to the announcement of the title and not an imminent release. It does confirm that there’s something on the way, though, which is pretty exciting news, as it’s been a while since the last One Piece game.

It’s not clear when the game is going to be revealed, but since it’s being teased on the One Piece Day website, it does make sense it’d be shown off there. Guess we’re waiting until August, then.

That just leaves one big question - what kind of game are we in for? That’s sadly impossible to know from the little tease that we got, but it could be anything from a brand-new project to a sequel to World Seeker, Pirate Warriors, Odyssey, or another existing One Piece game. We’ll find out for sure soon, but let’s hope it’s not just a tease for the Pirate Warriors 4 port we already know about.
