Techlandhas confirmed in a recent interview thatDying Light: The Beast"isn’t planned" to includeDying Light 2’s controversial post-launch DL Points.

AlthoughDying Light 2 is generally considered to be a solid sequel to the first gamethat added some great new mechanics (especially when it came to movement),it’s fair to say it didn’t quite live up to expectations at launch. Things weren’t helped by some of thestrange additions and changes that were made to the game after it released.

One of the most controversial things that Techland added to Dying Light 2 post-launch was DL Points, which were an in-game currency that could be used to purchase skins and other cosmetics. Considering Dying Light 2 is a mostly single-player game, the inclusion of microtransactions left a really sour taste for a lot of players, and some lingering fears for Dying Light: The Beast.

Don’t worry, Dying Light: The Beast has gotten rid of Dying Light 2’s DL Points

For now, at least…

It seems that we don’t have to worry about The Beast being invaded by a bunch of post-launch currencies, though. As pointed out by Insider Gaming, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektala was recently asked by a fan on Twitter if we can expect to see any microtransactions or in-game currencies in Dying Light: The Beast.

Smektala simply responded with “not planned”, suggesting that the current version of Dying Light: The Beast isn’t going to include anything like that. As you’re able to imagine, the response has received a lot of positive attention, as most players werereallyunhappy to see them in Dying Light 2 and feared that it was a series staple going forward.

We don’t currently know whether Dying Light: The Beast will have quite as many live updates and events as Dying Light 2. I’d like to hope it’s kept as more of a singular release, but you never really know.

Of course, to be a little bit pessimistic about the whole thing, Smektala doesn’t outright say it’s never going to happen, only that it’s not planned for the game right now. We could see it added later down the line like with Dying Light 2, although something tells me that Techland has learned from last time and won’t be doing that, but we’ll have to wait and see once The Beast launches in September.
